Be on the look out for the man in this photo,He has been known to ride a Kawasaki ,and pulls a trailer holding shiny parts wrapped in paper , has also been known to consume mass quantities of coffee and cigs ! Last seen leaving the state of Colorado, but sources say he may be found in the state of Pennsylvania later this month ! You may give up trying to follow him ...as he has been known to travel long distances ! :gig:

OK Gene ...sounds good, The reason I ask is cause out of "winter boredom" I made a backrest for my 6 cylinder Voyager last January, after going thru one of my out buildings I cannabilized a old 70's sissy bar,and a office chair... and there you have it..... one rider backrest ! :gig:

After the rally I did some more snoopin around and found a old set of saddle bags in there ,so I put them on the 6 and I like them,so they have found a use after a few decades of being "shelved"
I may be interested in yours, thanks for taking the time to go locate it and posting a pic....Tony :-D

Adding saddlebags, and a seat back. Keep going, Tony! Don't you need a stock front fender to help keep your feet dry? And, doesn't the wifie want to ride with you, so you'll need a stock seat again, plus that nicely padded trunk for her to lean back against. Pretty soon you'll have it right back to it's full 940lb weight! Heh, heh, heh!!!

Yeah, Ha Ha Bruce ! Actually , The deal CAME with all of the stock stuff to return her to full touring mode ,(except seat) and the original pieces are in great shape structure and paint ! It's easy to figure out what became of the stock seat ! It got a saw put to it,and re-covered, then back on the bike it went !
I sold my black Wing, and I just took a deposit from a guy on the red wing last week(the "winter project" bike) The shop needed more space going into the snow months....gettin to where I couldn't move anymore, as always "big plans" for this winter
As far as wifey....she enjoys rides on the XII,but the big six will always be a solo bike.
Do ya notice how far the 6 squats down in the ass end with that shorty tire the P.O. put on da bike ? looks cool ,but really increases those hi-way rpm's, when you get done (no hurry) with the HONDASAKI :devl
final drive...I will fit a taller tire on it ,then we should really have something !..........Tony :-D

Tony/Loren: So you guys are going to Penn., looking forward to seeing you guys again. Kathy and I are leaving Friday at around 9:00 am in the morning. See you there. Oh by the way I finally got 40 mpg on the trip back from Michigan. I keep running seafoam every other tank. I probably should have pulled the carbs, but it's getting there.

Thanks Mike ....Love that bike ! And ALOT of fun to ride ! She handles really nice blasting thru the twisties... unexpectedly for such a wide engine.....
She still has the "squeeky fairing" syndrome going on that drives me nuts ,which is on the list for the snow months down time. I suspect that when the P.O. had the bike apart changing the color to flat black, he made some errors upon reassembly ...I will back track and re-do the mountings of the fairing and dashboard.

Image

Last winter was all about disassembling ,cleaning and painting of wheels and all things that looked 1985  suspension update to progressives, and stainless steel lines took up most of the winter, I didn't get that far last winter to include the removal and repair of that annoying fairing noise !
Hope to get 6-8 more weeks of riding out of this season though....before winter puts us in it's icy grip again...... :cry2:

But on a positive note., my old buddy "Craig" that I graduated from the American Motorcycle Institute with, back in the late 70's Daytona Beach FL....have remained close all of these years...anyway' he and I went halves on the purchase of that 01' VoyagerXII that has been listed on our "classified ads" section of this forum,he went and picked it up yesterday and it is now in his garage, and I will be riding it in the Orlando area (where he lives) this winter as I will be flying down there at Christmas/New Years time !can't wait ! .................................Tony :-D

She still has the "squeaky fairing" syndrome going on that drives me nuts ,which is on the list for the snow months down time. I suspect that when the P.O. had the bike apart changing the color to flat black, he made some errors upon reassembly ...I will back track and re-do the mountings of the fairing and dashboard.

The most common cause of squeaky fairing is the two nuts inside the fairing are loose .This is also the major cause of cracked fairings so you may want to pull the headlight and check them right away.
The other thing is the dash may be a little loose and the seal around the dash is rubbing on the windshield . tightening up the two nuts inside can reduce this squeak some ,if the fairing is not moving the dash doesn't move enough to squeak.
I don't notice the squeak on mine ,but that may be because my hearing isn't as good as it used to be and/or the music is to loud .
It's also possible the PO lost a couple rubber bumpers when he was cleaning up the brackets.

Hey thanks for the "heads up" to what to look for...Bill....we are of similar thoughts about things being loose .... and the "rubber bumpers"you mentioned. One of my business customers ,is a rubber products company ,that I service all of their forklifts..... endless supply of "all things rubber" at my disposal ....for free !.........gonna make it over kill on the dampening end of things,by the time I'm done ! :hpdc: ........of course ...as always ,you will see my boring posts of my progress !...
Winter down time will be here before we know it, stay tuned for update progress ! BUT.. my 03' XII is up first up on the air lift this winter as I have many things to do on it .
1) stainless brake line kits I bought from Don M. at the Asheville rally.
2)Front fender trim I got from Gene Kapp.
3)G.P.S. mount from Gene .
4)Clutch master cylinder rebuild.
5)Clutch slave cylinder rebuild.
6)All fluids changed .
7)Fabricate a mudflap,w/brake light.
8)Front fender crush washer replacement from Gene.
9)Left front speaker stopped working on the way back from Colorado.
10)Replace blown headlight
11)Replace speedo cable(using a KZ 1000 cable since return from Colorado.( so happy it waited till the day after I got home ) No cruise control crossing the country would return me to "old school"
12) Make yet another attempt at moving the seat back (structurally)...(see other posts)
13)Thorough cleaning and painting of all things 2003  .
A long list perhaps... but ,if I we don't make a list...we don't know when were done

After completing all of this,Then the 85' 6 cylinder will get it's turn. I think my XII bike might be worthy of seeing all of you guys in Hurley WI. next June..............Tony :-D
