New Guy From Michigan
Hello all. I am the new guy from Michigan. I just got a 1987 Voyager 1200. It is a sweet bike in my opinion. I have a few other bikes. Took this one on trade for my boat and have to say I really enjoy it. There is a leak, but from reading its the water pump. Meh.

Welcome ! ...Nice bike ! I like the color and seat color combination ya got there ! How many miles on it ? Next time ya have the fake tank off of it , look at the numbers on the igniter, the last four digits should read 1248.....if you have a 1179 replace it ..............if ya spend some time reading all the back posts on this forum ,you will find a lot of useful info on your new bike !...............Tony

Welcome to the club. Love the color of the bike. It should serve you well for a long time. I've only had mine for just under two years but I'm finding they are very easy to work on and are pretty much bullet proof if you take care of them.

Re: New Guy From Michigan
Thanks for the welcome folks. I need to change the water pump it seems to be leaking fairly good and it looks like its coolant and oil.
The Wisconsion trip sounds awesome. Truly. I have so far a trip planned to Nebraska to meet with another bunch of guys from a forum.
I have some small items to tinker with, the choke is not hooked up on the handle bar. The radio speakers do not work at this time but I am not overly concerned with that. Main thing I want to work is no oil/coolant leak and the choke to function. I am very pumped to get working on this bike and to get riding. I may have the carbs synced at a shop I trust just for a function test to insure that is running perfect. The shocks feel stiff, either no air, or way to much. I will figure that out. I am currently at a conference so until I get finished with that it is sitting in storage. Once I get it all sorted with a new water pump I will change all fluids and ride it.

Re: New Guy From Michigan
It could be that they already replaced them (the shocks) with Progressives and dialed them way up. Look at your rear to see if they have the air hoses still connected. Even dialed up, I never would have considered mine "too firm". I went progressives over a year ago on the rear and the front will be done this next few weeks as I get what I need to do it. What I need now mainly is the time, my wife is remodeling the house (paint, tiled floors, removing popcorn from ceiling), meaning I am her primary contractor. Actually most of it is done on the inside and now I actually have a garage instead of a carport (Yeah).ivel_86 wrote:Thanks for the welcome folks. So good luck with the oil and water issue. Water can be a lot of simple things (like the water manifold O'rings leaking-4 of them).
Enjoy,
Ken
PS. Still trying to work out how to get to Hurley. Have to be in Washington State the week before and Colorado the week after (I am game, but my wife is giving me not good vibes about it).
