2016 Color announced

Post by David (N. Alabama) »

Two years in a row with only one color offering. Not a good sign for the Voyager.
Boring color again, but that must mean the dark color offerings were outselling the brighter color offerings.

I agree David, not good color choices. It seems as though Kawasaki Design and Marketing staff do not care about this segment of motorcycles. At least a portion of the people buying the Ninja's, Versys and smaller Vulcans eventually will want a touring bike. With fewer color options they are really limiting the excitement factor to buy a new bike. I read in Motorcyclist magazine that the new Road Glide's competition is the Ultra, Victory and Indian. No mention of the Voyager. Too bad, it's a great bike. I saw your orange/black color combo on the Vulcan forum and would be very interested in trading my 2012 Graystone/black for that. I also think a metallic Forest Green/Black combo would create excitement. Oh well, lets hope for 2017.

Was in a dealership over the weekend and took a look at 2016 Voyager. I have to say it looks a lot better in person than in pictures. The bike was very sharp. I still think Kawasaki needs to offer better/brighter colors to lure more prospective buyers. I played salesman for a few minutes too as a potential buyer was looking and I gave him my 2 cents worth on the bike. He had also looked at Harley, but was having a hard time justifying the extra 10 grand needed for the Ultra.

i agree i got traded my 08 titanium goldwing for the 2015 voyager and although i like it better for many reasons i would have like to have a color choice i had when i looked at the harley ultra, but am getting used to the color and love the bike and ride might just get some airbrushing on it a little later and help make it look better.

Although there may be a lack of color choices, I think that I am still gonna be a owner !
Who knows , maybe next year ,Maw Kaw will offer the Vulcan Voyager in a flat black, two part epoxy primer, then we can choose to paint it what ever color we want it to be ...or just leave it in flat black primer !

I ran across this article a while back, :

http://thekneeslider.com/2009-kawasaki- ... 0-voyager/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This guy writing this article states that "Kawasaki has entered the full dress touring market" in 2009 ?
O.K......as if this is Kawasaki's first attempt at building a touring bike. :-O

I heard a rumor that 2017 will be the last Voyager for a couple of years. That they were going to stop production and do one last big overhaul attempt to make a statement in the touring bike class in 2019. If that didn't kick up sales market shares, they will drop the line again shortly after that and concentrate on the sport bikes.

Just rumors but a scary thought concidering the Voyagers history.

Very interesting rumor! If it is true, will be very curious to see what Kawasaki brings to the table! Harleys recent Rushmore bikes are doing very well as usual and the new Indians are seeming to do very well also. Add in Victory and Gold Wing crew and there is a lot of competition right now. It would have to be a game changing bike for not only Kawasaki, but the touring segment as well. First year bikes can be very risky, but my 2012 Voyager might just be on the trading block if they produce the right bike. Don't let us faithful down Kawasaki!

Personally I don't take much stock in rumors ,especially something like this .
Now I'm not in marketing ,but , even if they wanted to make a BOLD statement ,they would not drop one line, that already has a market base, for one year if they plan on bringing out a new line anyhow .
That's not saying they would not do something like the overlapping bikes they did with the 1300/XII ,where the 1300 was virtually identical the last two years .
Now with that said , 10 years is about right for a change.
My 2 cents

I totally agree. Doesn't make sense to stop a line during a remodel year. revenue lost. I do think though that if they want to compete with some of the other touring bikes, they need to step it up a bit on the electronics and customer choices side of the game. For what riders are paying for these new touring machines, they want choices.

Kawasaki has dropped the 1700 Nomad and 1700 Classic from the line up. To me, that means 1 of 2 things: either sales could not support producing the models, or they are using remaining components to build only the Voyager and Vaquero as they are better moving/profit models. I think when they were still making the XII Voyager, the last 2 years or so were using up all remaining components and trying to get the factory retooled for something else. I do not put much stock in rumors, but it will be interesting to see what happens.
