Here's your chance, Tony!

Just listed on the sidecar forum, but since it's hooked to a Voyager 1300 I figured it would be of interest here, especially to Lucasind. '84 Voyager 1300, and one of the nicer sidecars for a super price.

Tony tells me the pics don't show up when he clicked on the link. So, here's the pics. Also, just in case, here's the basics of this rig. 1984 Kawasaki Voyager 1300 bike with a California Friendship sidecar. For those not familiar with sidecars, this is one of the nicer ones and worth the money being asked for it alone! $1800 for both!!! If I only had a couple grand I would be on my way to pick this one up.
He says one of the coils is bad, so it has been parked in the garage for a few years, not running. It appears to have decent paint with some graphics applied, plus some better Markland accessories. The sidecar is color-matched to the bike.
Guys, if you have ever wanted a good rig, this would be a good place to start with just a bit of work to get it running again.
I will be trying to find a way to get this one myself, so ya better hurry if ya want it!

I talked to Mike about this rig on Saturday and have been trying to come up with the cash to go get it. But, he must have sold it because his listing is now deleted. Sure would have been a great rig for somebody willing to do just a little bit of electrical work on the bike.

I was thinking about it but decided not to drive 350 miles and have to trailer it back.

You're about 100 miles closer to him than me, and I was all ready to jump in my truck if he had accepted PayPal for payment. Would have been well worth a really long day of driving!

I am a little gun shy.
Some years back I drove for 6 hours only to find that neither the pictures nor the owners description were very accurate .I offered him about 1/2 what we had agreed upon just so I wouldn't have to make the drive home empty handed.I did ride it for a couple years before finding my present bike a mere 200 miles away.

I sure hear that! I've never been mislead that far, but the '85 Voyager 1300 that I picked up in Texas over a year ago became one of those neutral deals. Not super good, but also not bad. It does run good, but has three electrical issues, plus a slipping clutch. All are easy fixes, but just got sidelined with the much better '84 and sidecar project.
I talked to the owner of this rig for almost an hour about how he got it and the recent history of how it got parked. They knew from testing that one of the coils had opened up, but it still ran on four slugs until they parked it. Mike bought it to ride as a sidecar rig but found that no Kwak dealers near him would touch any repairs on it! He bought another complete, ready-to-ride rig in the mean time and just wanted the space back in his shop. He was even willing to pay me for anything beyond that coil set to get it back on the road.
The sidecar alone is worth more than his $1800 asking price! That's a $4200 sidecar today, without the color-matching to the bike. New,it cost $3000 back in the mid-'80's.
Bill, I think you missed your chance with this one! A little cleanup, change out all the fluids, replace the coils and hit the road. If nothing else, transfer the hack to your bike and be done with it, with a whole bike of spare parts!

Yup.
I blew it.
I should have just called you and got the info on the bike .
I think I may have bought it then.
Probably would not just buy a side car after seeing how much work you did to mount yours though .
I really need to practice my skills at getting correct info.
Case in point is I recently was looking at a trike kit for a Voyager.Email from nephew said it was a 1300 .It took a 20 minute call to the owner for me to realize it came off a Venture not a Voyager ,and I needed to buy the mounting kit.
Decided against it at that point .
:cry2:

Bill, that sidecar was hooked to a Voyager 1300 already, so just a transfer of bike-side mounts would have got you going quickly. Then, you would have had a bike-full of spare parts! Or, part it out to recoup all of your investment, and more.
I did get a PM from him and it sold. Actually, another guy had called him before me but couldn't fit it inside his enclosed trailer for a 35 mile trip, so he gave up for a while. Then it dawned on him that U-Haul rents trailers big enough to do the job.
He also said it had just over 8,000 miles on the whole rig and it was "festooned" (his word!) with lights! That front fork/caliper shield had over 50 lights behind it. Lots of Markland accessories. Running boards.
Sorry both of us missed it!
