Been A Terrible Day.
I've always been a Dog lover. This morning my little Girl Jenna suddenly passed away. She was a German Shorthair Pointer. Wonderful dog. full of fun & love.
She was 16, lived a long healthy life, but it doesn't help the pain & loneliness I'm feeling right now.
I don't have a wife or family, she was my kid. We did everything together. So it hurts even more.
Right now I wonder how I'm going to get by without her, I didn't want to go in the house tonite, Everything reminds me of her. House is so empty now.
If you're not a dog lover you'll think I'm crazy
If you are one, you'll understand.
Going to be a long long night.
Larry

Re: Been A Terrible Day.
Not much to say that will help you, Larry! It's a BIG loss! BIG hole inside you, I know! Wishing a few of us were closer to you so we could all sit around, share stories of our fur-kids and down a few.
When I lost my little fur-gurl six years ago I swore I would never get another one, but I toughed it out for almost a year and broke down and found another one to love. One thing I learned is that the new one doesn't replace the past one, but just creates his/her own place alongside in your heart. I wish I hadn't waited so long to look for my next one, which I still have today! Try cruising the shelters in your area to distract yourself and I'll bet you'll take one home really soon! There are lots of great ones out there who need a good home and are ready to share their love!
How about sharing a pic, or ten, of her with us?
Here's my little Zoe!

Re: Been A Terrible Day.
Larry, one more thought to try to encourage you to get out there and look for anew little fur-kid; as you know, dogs usually know our mental state and emotions better than we do, and they also have the knack for ministering just the right kind of love to help us. ALL of those poor little babies in the shelters are at a loss of their own and waiting for someone to fill the void in their lives, too. Their tails tell their tales!
It won't make you NOT miss your past little fur-gurl, but it will help take away a lot of the overall pain.
Get out there and find another little doggie and then build a kennel for your bike so you can take him/her with you! It's well worth the expense and effort to do that!

Re: Been A Terrible Day.
Sorry to hear that, Larry. Our dogs are our kids. The day we bring them home is so happy. But I always know in the back of my mind, that "other" day is coming. Never is easy.

Re: Been A Terrible Day.
When I was 10 I bought a puppy from a kid with a litter in a wagon. He wanted 50 cents for her. I ran home and got the money from my Mom and so began the love affair with my first dog I named Fifi. She was a bundle of reddish brown fur and I thought she'd be a poodle. To may surprise she turned out to be a chow. From the time my sisters were little Fifi would follow them around the neighborhood. Mom never worried because Fifi would never let anyone harm my little sisters. That dog and I literally grew up together. I had a heck of a time stopping her from chasing the mailman, come to think of it I never did cure her of that. She didn't like the milkman either and slept on the back door mat which terrified every milkman we ever had. Throughout my teens Fifi and I were inseparable. At one point I even taught her to ride on the gas tank of my Yamaha 180. She loved to do whatever I wanted to do. Into my twenties Fifi went to live with my Mom because I was, between school, new jobs and other things, too busy to have a dog to care for. She was always waiting tail wagging and what I perceived was a grin on her face every time I managed to come home for a visit. By this time Fifi was 15, suffering from heart worms and arthritis. But she never complained. At last I finally moved back to Lafayette, but into an apartment that would not take pets so Fifi stayed in Jackson with Mom. Mother said she would prefer it that way. It was country living, lots of trees, squirrels to harass and for a dog a great place to retire. By this time Fifi was now pushing 18. I got a call one afternoon, mom on the other end of the phone said in a broken voice, I have bad news. I had to put Fifi to sleep. Seems she loved to sleep under mom's car and she never had a problem moving when the car was started but today she didn't. Maybe she was just tired, maybe she was just sleeping too hard for she had become hard of hearing in her old age. This time she didn't move fast enough. The arthritis had gotten the better of her. I told mom it was fine but she didn't see me tearing up on the other end of the phone. My old girl was gone and I never got to say goodbye. Mom buried her under her favorite pecan tree. Since that time and it has been over 35 years, I have never wanted another pet especially a dog. My wife keeps wanting one. But there will never be another Fifi. I don't think I could stand to get attached like that again.
