Home Safe from Wisconsin Rally

Post by vxiirider »

Mary Jane and I arrived home on Saturday around 7 PM from another great AVA rally. We are already looking forward to next years gathering in Indiana. We hope that everyone has as uneventful a trip as we had and that you all have a safe trip home. See you all next year, Mary Jane and John

Glad to hear that. / We just arrived home Sunday/ 4:30pm. Safe and sound ending mileage 2,966 door to door, no issues other than a young girl today doing a lane change into my lane. Oh while I was in that lane. Found an escape route and avoided an ugly ending at about 75mph.
PA turnpike was like a race track. Speed limit of 70, they all had that confused with the minimum speed limit. Even at 80mph they all rolling by you like your doing 50mph.
Neal had some issues and may be still in the hospital with appendix issues. If anyone has his cell number please check on him and wish him speedy recovery.
Not glad that we are back in the northeast, but its good to be home here in the pine's . Southern NJ still has some rural areas .
See ya'll next year Gene and Marie

Karol and I arrived home Friday night around 6pm. We made the 445 mile trip in 11 hours. You know the saying -- There is no place like home--It sure felt good to be back home. Other then it being windy it was a uneventful ride home.

Leaving Hurley, we saw/almost ran into:

4 deer,
1 turkey,
1 black bear.

Today, from Minneapolis...:

bike quit running north of Des Moines, :tho:
got it running, not sure how or why, :Cball
lost and found the right saddlebag lid, :gmad:
dodged thunderstorms and rain in KC with only about 6 drops hitting us. :bowdn:

Ahhhhh. Home. Home at last. I'm starving. Time for dinner......

I hope Neal is doing okay. I know that when we were loading out Thursday I helped him carry out his car top carrier and at that time he said he was not feeling right.

Brad and I got home around 5pm on Saturday and fought the wind all the way! :windy: . Spent Friday in Duluth. That was a fun way to end our vacation. Thought we were going to get wet but managed to bypass the rain. It's good to be home but that means work on Monday :cry2:

Loren, you could ride over here to Independence, then ride to the rally with us! Or, we could both go by way of Amarillo! You know, the scenic route!

I had to laugh when I figured out that Hurley is 320 miles and Nashville is 317 according to mapquest.

Larry, I thought about it (stopping by, but not the sammich, LOL). If I had had a couple hours to spare, I would have done it. Spent the time with my nephew and niece. And napping. :gig:

Made it back home around 1:30 yesterday afternoon. Made a roundabout trip home through Minnesota and Iowa. Stupidly ran out of gas just west of Indy on I-74 and so very grateful for the ROK Roadside Assistance service. Weather was awesome for the trip home with only a brief shower as I came through Boone yesterday morning. Hopefully the missus can make the trip up next year as it will only be a little over 600 miles....

Hi everybody. I finally have internet. Yes I had issues...
Thursday I made it to St. Ignace and decided I needed to find out what was wrong. Turns out that on Tues. night, when I woke up and had to pee I was shivering just awful. Like when it's 24 and you don't have a coat..but I was warm and sweaty. Anyway that's when the fever broke because of my appendicitis bursting. Even though I didn't feel ANY pain. Well that's why I was hurting Thursday AM.
Dr. said I had the worst infection he had ever seen and I needed surgery NOW. So I was transported to Petoskey and operated on at midnight.
I'm feeling much better now and maybe able to leave Thur. or Fri. Friend Dave from home came up and brought the bike home Friday.
will fill in further details when I can.
Don't know how you heard it, but that's fine.

Neal,
Wishing you a quick recovery. Let us know when you get home. I made it home early Sunday. Goofed around on the Lake Superior shores for a couple of days then headed home. Beurtful country and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. Best rally ever.
