True story over the weekend!
We have been going through the attic (2nd story) of the garage clearing out old stored junk. Of course we worked in early morning most of the time but had to put a couple of boxes back up there in the late afternoon. Thermometer was pegged, so I got curious about just how hot. I set my BBQ meat thermometer up there, and it read 154!!! So, I set a small serloin steak out there yesterday and it actually cooked slowly all day to 148 degrees, good enough to eat! But it was a bit dry with no searing.
This week is suppose to be cooler, but with rains. Just be careful in all of this heat folks!

It's so hot that the engine paint on my bike blistered! And it wasn't even running!

It's so hot my 1300 Voyager shrunk and became a Honda Express moped.

Phoenix is always cooking in the summer! Why do you even WANT to be there this time of the year? My mom lives in Scottsdale and she knows I will never come visit except in the winter!
That reminds me of how a Florida buddy described the humidity in the summer: you have to jump in the pool to dry off after a shower!
But then, when I lived in the high desert of So. Cal. it was so dry that before I could finish squeegeeing off the shower walls I was dry, no towel needed!
Here in the midwest I feel like I need to walk backwards and use the backstroke to get through this humidity as I walk!

I guess you southerners deal with the same issues we do up in Canada where you just dont venture outside as much except for us its in the winter when it gets below -10F we just stay inside. Right now we are in a nice run of around 85F days perfect for riding.
I cant imagine dealing with the heat you have now.

Hey Don, Did you get the email I sent re: MPG?
My trike is sick. it's got the gullywhumps I guess. engine keeps cutting out while driving, sometimes, it just slows down at idle so much that it just quits.

I know that type of heat build up, up there. A word of caution. extended periods of this type of heat will actually bake the shingles on the roof and dry and curl them up. Not a good thing for the rafters either. When I bought my house the roof was in bad shape. after some investigation I found all the sofit vents had been blocked with insulation and not enough slant back vents for the size of house. I opened the sofits, added more sofit and roof vents as well as installed a temperature controled, powered attic vent. Could feel the difference that day on the temp down in the house and my new roof still looks like brand new after 16 years. I set the controler to 90 degree and it keeps the air moving all summer long.

It's so hot out there that we gather poached eggs straight from the hen house for breakfast.
