Bluetooth Adapter

Just received an Ion Cassette Bluetooth adapter from Amazon tonight. Very cool gadget. I will charge it up and check it out tomorrow. Will let you know what I think. There are a few complaints about sound quality but if you read deeper into the reviews you will come across the smart person that gives everyone the heads up that there is a thin plastic protective cover over the metal head that you need to peel off and clean with a swab and alcohol. Can't wait to try it out.

So my review of this device so far is very positive. I charged it up last night and paired it with my phone this morning and gave it a try. So popped it in my Clarion deck, set my phone volume at 50% and closed the lid and put on some music from my Amazon music app and was immediately very impressed with the sound. Hard to believe that for $21 no tax and next day delivery from Amazon that I have transformed my antiquated tape deck into modern streaming device. Really love BT!

Bought one recently at Best Buy for about $30 w/tax. Which is decent if you're on a budget, it works ok but once I get the money saved up will go through https://sites.google.com/site/voyagerradiorepairs/

Really liked that I was able to stream music & directions through the stereo speakers. What I don't like about it is that you'll have to have the device on a ram mount if you want to fast forward to the next song or return to a previous one. When I use a scala rider, you can press a button on the side of the headset to do those functions.

Those work well, I've used them in my truck. However, I've learned from this forum that the weak link in that system is the belt on the tape deck player. They are known to stretch and/or break. These belts are nearly extinct and very hard to find. With this in mind, I went a slightly different route.
I sent my stereo unit off to Peter Franci and had him install an Aux input into the back of the unit. I ran the extension jack for this inside the right hand storage compartment on the fairing. Along with that I installed a 12volt dual USB power socket. I have an iPod with 4000 songs on it that I plug into the Aux port and power with the USB port. Select "tape" on the stereo handelbar control and the iPod plays through the stereo. "seek" moves the iPod from track to track and all volume control for the stereo still function. If on a long trip, I plug in my "Soundbot" handsfree, Bluetooth controler to the Aux in and pair up both my iPod and smart phone to it. Now I can control my music and hear if somebody calls or texts me over the stereo. NO, I DON'T EVER ANSWER THE PHONE OR TEXT WHILE DRIVING. I will check my phone at the next stop.
This all works very smoothly with the OEM stereo controls but puts no stress on my tape deck, which is still useable as well and all stores nicely inside the lockable righthand storage compartment.

Just an update on the Ion cassette bluetooth adapter...It worked great for me for a couple of hours, then the stereo started hiccuping into auto reverse!

Once the riding season's done will be sending mine in for upgrades.

Ok,
the problem with all cassette adapters is that they rely heavily on the belts being in good enough condition to pull the heads forward onto the pickup.
The quality is only as good as the pickup interaction.

Once the belts stretch, fray or go gooey (and thats a nightmare to cleanup!, ask me how I know!) The adapters are rendered useless ..
However , the belts last from 1 year to 20+ so its luck of the draw really..

I can , of course replace the belts (2 of them ideally) or put the adapter in the back or do the "Full Monty" with or without bluetooth as per my website below.

So, when you are ready, just yell
