Another stupid move,.....MINE!

Post by trikebldr »

Last spring I bought my beautiful 1982 KZ1100D Spectre hot rod. Well, maybe not so hot as a lot of the current generation of crotch-rockets, but it does list as 109hp for a 562lb bike. And, as smaller bikes go (smaller than my Veger 1300's) that's a whole lot of power that I haven't had in a small bike for a long time. I did have a heavily modified '76 GL1000 Gold Wing that had 183hp a long time ago!
I was merging onto a local major street as another pack of cars was approaching and I didn't want to wait another five minutes for traffic to clear. I knew I had the power to do it easily, but wasn't ready for how much torque that bike has. I was leaning into the turn to merge and the rear tire slipped enough to make me feel like I was flat-tracking the bike through a corner! Good thing I was close to home and could "hold it"! I do wonder what the other drivers thought when they saw that!
Sorry for adding to the stigma we have as crazy bikers! Lesson learned!
