Springs or not?
I was going to put in front progressive springs on my 98 voyager xii because the air system doesn't work. However, I talked to the previous owner today and he thinks they are already done. Is there a way to know or check?

You will have to remove one of the top caps and verify, One immediate give away is upon removal of the top cap you will notice the absence of the parts ABOVE the fork spring. in the diagram above the filter ( 14043 ) and the collar ( 92143 ) will LIKELY NOT be present if someone has already installed progressive springs on your Voyager. if you do this, you may as well raise the spring up out of the fork tube and make a visual verification .
The "winds" in a stock spring stay the same from top to bottom......the "winds" in a progressive spring are NOT the same from top to bottom.
You LIKELY want to change out your fork fluid at this time anyhow ,not knowing it's age/condition.
may want to take the weight OFF the front of the bike before doing this !

Re: Springs or not?
Thanks I was hoping a measurement would suffice. Thinking no air plus sag would have lowered the front forks

Re: Springs or not?
With the progressive springs if you sit on the bike, hold the front brake and pull back on the handle bars to extend the forks and then observe how far it goes back down, you should be able to tell. With a good set of springs she should go down just about an inch to inch and a half. Unless your 360lbs

Re: Springs or not?
Also if you pull a spring out you will see it is progressively wound unlike the OEM spring. That is one way you can know for sure.

Re: Springs or not?
Well it did already have progressives. At least I changed the fork oil. Thanks to all for the help.
