Fuel MPG to Lake George, NY

Post by HMB Don »

Today I rode my 1700, 660 miles from Southern Virginia to Westport, NY. I ran with traffic so my speeds on the speedo were 72 to 80 mph. I fueled two times at 176 and 178 miles and only used 4.1 gal. The last gas stop was 202 miles and used 4.8 gals. This last tank was from NJ mile marker 10 on I 78 up to Albany on the NY thruway, they were running hard today.

Yesterday at a steady 75 mph I used two tanks of gas and was able to run 210 miles on each and both took 4.7 gals.

To say I'm happy with my 1700 now is an understatement. So if you're on the fence about a 1700, after you buy one just reflash the ECU you'll be a very happy V=twin owner

Don, I finally had the chance to run 180 miles on my 1700, mainly running state routes and secondary roads. When I topped of the tank it took 4.3 gals. Not too bad for around town and cruising around. ohiojack

Finally had a chance to do some figuring to see just what the mpgs were instead of the range which is what you have listed.
176/4.1 = 42.93 mpg
178/4.1 = 43.41 mpg
202/4.8 = 42.08 mpg
210/4.7 = 44.68 mpg
210/4.7 = 44.68 mpg
A total of 976 miles and 22.4 gallons of fuel, that = 43.57 miles to the gallon average.
Pretty impressive considering the rate of speed you were traveling

I think so, after 4 and 1/2 years I've got the V-twin that I wanted. For the first time it is beginning to out do my 2002 Voyager 1200. Now while here at Americade I'll see what type of MPG I can get.

Yep the 1700 was made for loping along those back roads. I love to just cruise along at 55 to 60 mph. The best is the MPG that big V-twin returns.

It's a Corbin seat. I bought it in Jan of 2005, so when that picture was taken it was almost 12 years old, with close to 200,000 miles on the seat. The brown leather and tuck and roll stitching, looks good and was never able to get that on a car.

Just an update on my V1700: Hank and Gert delivered my new to me Hannigan trailer. After filling the trailer with unsold amsoil products and brake pads and SS brake lines. I headed up to MI to visit Neal and Suzie. 380 miles and two tanks of fuel, first tank average 42.5 mpg
Voyager, Trailer in Michigan cropped.jpg
in the rain and speeds of 65 mph. The second tank was even better 43.1 mpg
