Getting my rig ready for the rally !

Post by Lucasind »

Added some "eye hooks" to keep my gear in place ......and finished up my trailer carpet , checking my travel bag where I keep odds and ends like a tire plug kit , a small 12 volt air compressor , a extra fuel pump and alternator, a extra speedo cable , various tools.....etc . The bike has been running great , we have had a mild winter here in Ohio , and was able to ride each month of 2017 , So the bike is ready to roll ! !  .......just waiting for the calander to say it's time to roll out ! Plannin on "super slabbing " it again this year , taking I-75 down to I-70 and hanging a west , relatively short distance to ride this year , and plan on riding for a hour or so ....and stopping for a nice breakfast along the way down to I-70 . Looking forward to seeing you all at the rally ! ................................Tony :-D

Hello Jack , we are leaving on Sunday morning. It is only 284 miles for us this year......that is sometimes just a average Sunday ride for me
As far as Gene and Marie ,No plans of them coming here to my home for a group ride to the rally , I have not heard any mention of them even attending this year's rally :-( :-( Do I understand that you are leaving Saturday and getting a overnight room half way there ? that is only a hundred and some miles ?

All I have to do is change the oil on Trisha's trike next Tue when I get home. My Voyager is ready! oh it does need to be washed, it's been raining here at Americade every day except today.

Trisha and I are arriving very early to rest and start preparing with the rest of the board members so we can all go on the Chairman's ride to the Brickyard.

Tony that's a nice trailer, I have one being delivered by Hank and Gert from CA.

I have been scrambling to get stuff ready. If I show up in a Ford Expedition, it might be wise to give me some space for a day or two, LOL. New struts on the trailer lid, though.

Due to family and work reasons, I will not be able to attend this year. This is hitting me hard as the date nears. I had such a great time last year and feel I made some good friends there. Please, everyone riding to the rally, be very carefull and safe. Oh yeah, and most importantly, have a cold one for me at some point. I will be at work thinking about you all.

stay safe.

Tony, what time are you leaving from your house? You know we could meet up with you guys at the rest stop just south of the state route 6/75 exit. What time do you think you will be there? I was just worried about how many miles I could put in without my back bothering me. I've done over 100 miles with no problems so far

Getting very anxious to get going, had a great time last year. Leaving early Friday morning the 16th and will try to make it to Hannibal MO the first day. Heading to Springfield Ill on Saturday and get some site seeing in and stay the night than up on Sunday and work our way to Nashville. Pulling a trailer for the first time on a trip so that may be a adventure in itself. Packed the bearings and put all new led lights on the trailer. Had the bike to the dealer today to have the oil changed and a new commander II put on the front. He went through the bike and made sure everything was tight and checked out. Ready to go, come on Friday get here fast.

All right Brad , glad your going to the rally again , we will arrive on Sunday afternoon .So far the weather looks like it is gonna co-operate !....... About pulling the trailer , after your bike gets up to speed ,you hardly know it's back there except you will notice your fuel gauge going down faster  ...............get out and ride with the trailer a few times before Friday , making sure it pulls true and no weird vibrations or wobbles at hi-way speeds !

Lucasind, Been out a few times with the trailer over the last few months. Everything pulls straight and true as far as I can tell and what my wife says when following. You are right about not knowing it is even back there when pulling it. I just need to remember that its there when slowing down. Only 5 more days before heading out.
