Re: 29th annual rally
I am thinking about it I told my partners i would need another week off 3 days down/out,and 3 days back.It certainly would not be a short day's ride.

Re: 29th annual rally
I am still trying to figure out how he came up with 11 months and 30 days on the countdown calendar when it is only the 24th and the rally starts on the 25 .

Don't know why the count down does what it does, but if you add up the days left in June of this year (5) and add the days till start date in June of next year(25) it is correct. That will give you 30 days and then what is left is the remaining time of June 24 2017

Re: 29th annual rally
Now, here's something weird:
I checked the mileage from Sacramento to Kerrville, TX, via Google Earth and got the folllowing results:
Sacramento to Kerrville via rte I10 east, 1685 miles
Sacramento to Kerrville via rte I40 east, 1738 miles
Sacramento to Kerrville via GREYHOUND BUS, via rte I10 east, 1575 miles!!!
Guess I'll attach a bungie cord to the back of that hound, and cruise to TX and save lots of miles, time, and gas!!
See yall there!

Re: 29th annual rally campground?
As far as I know, the only campgrounds in Kerville that allow tents are By the River (yes, that's the name), the KOA, and Kerrville Schreiner Park. I'm fairly familiar with Kerrville. I only live two hours away and have helped the Lonestar Voyagers with some small rallies in the area.hank43 wrote:Just found this on YouTube, someone may be interested..........

Dave;
I was thinking something somewhere I could use my RV, not tent.

Re: 29th annual rally
All three of the campgrounds I mentioned also have places for RVs. Kerville-Schreiner Park is probably the closest facility to the rally hotel.

Re: 29th annual rally
OK ... Guess we are all set. Got a reserved spot at the Kerville-Schreiner RV Park in the Deer Field Loop area. Deb and I finally got our work vacations approved. This will be our first trip with our new (used) toy hauler. Swore I would never trailer the bike, but, Deb said she would not ride that far or long. Because we bought the hauler used, there are some repair, maintenance and RV necessities we have to buy and get things done before the trip. We are gonna try to boon-dock in Wal-Mart parking lots along the way to save a few bucks. I understand this is an acceptable practice and almost all Wal-Marts allow this provided you go inside and ask when you arrive. They gotta know that travelers are probably going to buy something too. Our hauler is a 2012 Forest River XLR Hyper Lite 25HFK. Just big enough for the two of us. We'll have to back the bike out in order to lower the bed at night time along the way. The hauler is in really good shape, however, due to age, most of the roof top plastic caps and covers are a brittle as potato chips and need to be replaced. No question about a replacement memory foam mattress! Also, the tires look excellent, however, they are 8 years old and also need to be replaced. (How can 8 year old tires be on a 6 year old hauler?!?!) Grease the bearings, flush the water heater with vinegar, flush the entire water/septic system with 10% bleach, wash/rinse/wax repeat. Lots of stuff to do and buy. Fortunately I don't have to do much to the bike!
I'll post the exact campsite number ... when I find it ...
Kerville-Schreiner RV Park in the Deer Field Loop area Site 127.
Ah Ha! Found it! Kerville-Schreiner RV Park in the Deer Field Loop area Site 127. We are there from Sunday the 24th through Thursday the 28th and departing Friday morning. Cost was $130.

Re: 29th annual rally
We finally made a decision to haul the bike on the back of the truck and tow the RV down. Susan wasn't sure her back could make the trip down and back on the bike. Camping at Kerville-Schreiner RV Park, site 117. Looking forward to seeing everyone again.
