Cassette issue started today
Today I went to eject a tape. the cassette ejected but the tape was caught in the player. I broke the tape but there was still a piece of tape caught in the roller closest to the tape door. I got a tweezers and pulled that out. When I went to insert my mp3 adapter (didn't want to chance another tape) it wouldn't go in fully. I then removed it and pushed down on the inside of the tape carrier. I could then insert the tape unit and the < indicator would light but it wouldn't play. I then tried an actual cassette and had the same issue. The rew/ff buttons would work if I held them but wouldn't stay pressed. When the radio is in cassette mode the AM indicator is lit in the left corner of the radio. If I switch to radio I can use AM or FM. When I go back to cassette AM stays lit and there is no sound or movement of the tape. I disconnected the battery to see if this would trigger a reset of the radio but that did not correct the issue. Any ideas on how to fix this? Have you guys seen this before? If the cassette is broken is there an easy way to wire an input into the radio, perhaps through the CB circuit?

I suspect your tape player's band has finally done what most of ours has and broken. My player is doing the same thing. There is an alternative to the cassette mp3 player. You will find in Walmart and on line at several places a little transmitter that you can plug into your mp3 player or phone's ear phone jack and it allows you to play them through radio because it transmits to it on one of the radio's frequencies. Not great but it does work. I listen mostly to talk radio on mine so I don't use it anymore but it works. BTW you will find it in the automotive section near where they sell car stereos.https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss ... car+stereo

Thanks. I may give one a try. Does the one you have used have sufficient volume to hear well? I find the radio is not as clear as the cassette was.

I have a couple of fm modulators that we used in past cars. They hook into the antennae input socket. Is the only one on the Voyager on the radio itself or does the antennae connector on the trunk have a lead that can be disconnected? Is the only way to get at the one on the radio to remove the fairing shell?

These units transmit to the existing antenna without actually connecting to the radio. You just find a blank channel and set it, tune the Voyager radio to that channel and utilize the volume control on the bike to whatever level is comfortable. Some of these plug into a cigarette lighter socket, some have their own batteries inside. Whatever works for you.keithert wrote:I have a couple of fm modulators that we used in past cars. I ordered and received an FM modulator. It works well enough around the house and at slow speeds on the bike but at speed it is not nearly as clear as the cassette adapter was. I may try my old wired one to see if its power is stronger.

I've had a Sena 10c communicator for the last few years. It provides clear music in my helmet at speeds up to 75. I bought a cheaper model Sena for my sons helmet. It allows him to play music from his i-pod to the headset. The downside is that to use the intercom you have to push a button on the headset to switch from music mode to intercom and back. The Sena 20 model can do music and chat but costs $250 each.

I bought this on Amazon for $10.95 shipped. It works amazingly well. I've moved the transmitter 20 feet from the bike and it still receives the signal. I could probably overpower the radio in the car next to me if I knew what station they were tuned to. I can hear the radio at 70 mph as well as I could hear the original cassette. The downside is that I can't change the songs easily like I could with the cassette. If I am using my Sena though I can skip or repeat a song using its controls and still be playing through the bikes speakers.

I had a problem like this your .
I breaked a button of my MP3 adapter inside the cassette player and when I put other tape, forced some mechanism.
To the solucion I had take off radio to analize with opened he, where had forced and I saw a spring loose. Had very easy fixed the mechanism that come back play normalitly.
Excuse my translation.. I do learning yet

^^ The problem is that its a lot of work to remove all the fairing to get to the radio.

It may seem that way if you've haven't done it yet. (I don't know if you have or haven't.)
I've done it a couple times already, really not that hard. Kawasaki made the system so it'd go together with a minimal number of fasteners. I now can take down in about 20 minutes, ditto with putting back.
This winter will want to get back in there to add redundant grounding wire to all chassis grounding points, may be install #16 with some #14 gauge wires in places, especially with the aftermarket stuff I installed, improve current flow.
Perhaps a good time to add an upgrade while you're at it, like a Wolo Big Boy air horn kit?
Did that with my Harbor Freight 90153 trailer, that I tow behind the XII. Lights burn bright, even fixed factory problem. Some months ago, got a free LED light kit from HF as a recall for their "defective" trailier lighting system. I look at it as redundant ground helped me delay that. When I install the LED kit, will lay a new redundant copper ground wire to each trailer light. That will clinch any wiring issues, plus lighten load to factory alternator.
