New GoldWing Is Revealed

Post by voyager55 »

Honda introduced the redesigned 2018 Gold Wing last night. Wow! What a nice bike. They will sell a lot of them.
Puts the 1700 Voyager to shame.

It's a nice bike with impressive upgrades. However, I can have all the fun on my 24 year old ZG1200 with 2100$ in it, rather than 30,000$ in the new GW.

$26,700 starting price for a tourer?

nope! My first home only cost $18,000!
The only reason wife let me have the 1700 Voyager, is because it cost less than that 1st home!

Wow! The starter motor and generator are the same device. Just like the 1924 Dodge touring car! This would be a great bike to own if you don't do any of your own wrenching. It sure has plenty of electronic distractions to help keep your eyes off the road. Just like the gadget crazy new cars. Everything is being made to prevent the owner from doing their own maintenance and repair. I'm quite happy with my very reliable 30 year old vxii and my flip phone :gig:

JFYI, you don't have to be a younger rider to be attracted to all the electronic gizmos! :hpdc: :gig:

Why.......why in this day and age of technology, does the Goldwing not come with hydraulic self-adjusting valves. :bat:

I think it's so 99% of owners have to go back to the dealer for service $$$ Makes no sense to me either.
The 2001-2017 Wings seldom need any adjustment thou. Most owners go 45,000 miles before thinking about it

The 18 wing has a different valve system. We'll have to wait & see on that. Manual says 35000 first adjustment

Long ago I purchased a new 1200 Goldwing Aspencade, then sold it when we started raising a family. Many years later when our teenagers decided they knew it all, I purchased a VXII as a means of escape. Goldwings are nice, but the Voyager 12 is the best bang for your buck out there. The only way to wear one out is by neglecting maintenance. :hmm:
