Leaking shock absorber

Post by biebale »

One of the shock absorber on the rear of my 1300 Voyager is leaking oil. Are there repair kits available in the US (I guess only a gasket would need replacement), are they reparable at all? Or do I have to replace them completely. And if replacement is required what spare parts do you use. I suppose if replacement of the shock absorber is required I will loose the compressor feature?

When mine were leaking I just drained all the fluid and refilled with ATF sealer/conditioner .
Never leaked again and the ride was pretty good .

Thanks for your hint. I thought I have to buy new schocks. With only oil it will be much cheaper.
One more question. Could you advice me which brand/type to use to have the best results?

Most brands sealer/conditioner are going to be the same .
Best you can do is if it does say the viscosity (most will not)go with a lower one .I believe most are in the 10w range which is a little high but I always felt the ride was very good .Book calls for 265ml of 5w .
