Everyone getting ready because is Rally time

Post by HMB Don »

Just trying to get any news on who's going or planning on going.

Trisha and I are leaving on June 20 planning on getting to Kerrville on Sat June 23, midday. Our route will take us I 20 to Dallas, TX and from there hoping to take back roads down to Kerrville. I'll be pulling my new trailer that Hank and Gert delivered to the rally last year. It'll be loaded with Stainless Steel Brake Lines and Galfer brake pads. Plus the tools for the Adjusting steering head bearings seminar on Monday afternoon.

Don,
I plan on leaving the 20th also. I will be going thru Dallas from the north on Friday or Saturday. Probably Saturday. Taking my time. Plan on being in Kerrville on Saturday. Both bikes running and looking great but will probably take the 02 this year. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Plan on leaving June 21. Going from Sioux Falls then head through Denver and down through NM to Texas. Will be in kerrville Sunday or Monday. A little out of the way but the wife has never been to that part of the country.

Heading out the 22nd, 3 day drive, first down the length of Calif on rte 5, then the 210 across the state to the 57, then south to rte 10, then a straight eastern shot to Kerrville thru the Desert into AZ, then NM, then Tx. Will arrive Sunday.

On the way back, will stop to visit my brother in Coolidge, AZ. About 500 miles per day, more or less!

Funny thing about Kerrville, I never heard of the place until this rally, but in talking to my nephew (OTR driver, he's been everwhere) He stated that it is a really neat place. Then, last week, I was talking to my brother who lives in AZ, and he seemed to know all about Kerrville, also stated it was a nice place in the hill country!

Ya never know..... Wife and I are looking forward to this trip.

Don and Kim

You can bypass the Dallas traffic by getting off the interstate and going south on TX10 to Athens, taking the loop around Athens and then getting on TX31 going to Waco. It's only a few minutes difference and a lot less stressful. You can pick up TX19 from I30 in Sulpher Springs or from I20 in Canton.

As you are going thru several Southwest states. Check and see where the forest fires are. The roads you are planning to ride could be closed. Make sure you have a plan B. Enjoy yore rides.

Hmmmmm.....

Don't see anything that would be a problem along route 10, that way I'm coming, but thanks for the heads up, didn't think of wild fires.......
Don't expect to see anything burning except my tires!
