deperk1941;
if you haven't already done so, clean and lubricate the gearshift spindle where it passes through the 2 footpeg bushings- it may be gummed up and not allowing the internal springs on the gear selection lever to return to the mid point. Also check the linkage joints.
If this isn't the problem then perhaps one of the two internal springs on the lever spindle is getting weak.
Hopefully it is the first situation/solution.
