Could I make my own receiver hitch? Yes! Could I do it cheaper than Marvellas, no way if I count my time.

I've had 4 different bikes with receiver hitches. 5 different trucks. ALL the receivers rattle in the tube. That's just a fact.
If they made them fit real tight they would most likely rust in place and it could be hard to get out when the time comes to remove it.
Here's how I made this new hitch not rattle. I cut a piece of band iron to fit inside the square tubing along the wall. I drilled a hole in the
center and welded a nut to it. I will be using a bolt instead of a hitch pin. I pull different trailers, 2 of them are single wheel so I will be
making a receiver for each trailer. One of them will be a ball hitch.


Edit: So we have a meeting of the minds, I've been using the wrong terminology...…
Receiver - The receptacle part of a trailer hitch which can take inserts such as ball mounts, bike racks and other accessories.

Correction: I will make ball mounts for each of my trailers.

The center hole it where the bolt will pass through, the holes on each side will be rosette welds.

Don't ask how I know but tack weld in place then remove the bolt. Then finish the welding and run a tap through the nut.
Other wise you might not get the bolt out. By using a bolt it will pull the receiver tight to one side. I'll use a lock washer under
the head of the bolt and put a nut on the other end with a lock washer. You know how us off road riders are....safety 3rd.

For my ball mount I use a Convert-a-ball. Makes it very easy to switch between 1 7/8" and 2" hitches.

Nice job!
I went the route of building my own hitch. $50 and 4 hours of my time was a lot cheaper.
To take up slack I ran three rows of weld on each side of hitch bar. Then grinded them down till it was a good fit. To up the slack nicely.
