Sad News from Ohio
Just wanted to let everyone know that Fred Pierce, one of our AVA members from Ohio passed away this morning. He had been battling cancer for just over a year. He missed last years rally after having a lobectomy to remove part of his lung and they thought they got it all. Found out around Christmas that it had came back with a vengence and he was on hospice. I met him at the rally in Logan back in '14. He was a great guy and although I only saw him during the rallies he will be sorely missed. I will always remember the trip we made up to the Hurley rally and thank the good Lord that our paths crossed and I was fortunate to get to know him if only for few years. RIP Fred!

Re: Sad News from Ohio
We should all mourn the loss of everyone who has taken the time to be a part of this extended family we call the AVA. I know from personal experience what it means it means to lose a beloved friend and riding mate to cancer. I will say a prayer for his family. His soul is with God. His pain is over.

Re: Sad News from Ohio
The photo of him smiling, on his beautiful bike, speaks volumes. I recognize that smile. My wife and I wear it for hours on end, riding our bike. I take great pleasure in that photo: it demonstrates that others, beside my wife and I, also know the incredible joys afforded by riding this, or any, motorcycle, really. I would say he had a very good life -- at least when he was riding. Thanks for sharing. I never knew the man, but I pray for his family. I am certain he will be missed -- with a smile like that, they must be hurting with their loss. Cheers!

Re: Sad News from Ohio
Wow, hate hearing this, always looked forward to visiting With Fred at the rallies. We spent a fair amount of time talking in Brown County.
I knew he had missed TX but was unaware of the serious turn things took the last few months.
So sorry to hear this today.
