Throttle cut off for cruise control?
Me and the missus did a quick little run up to the mountains Friday morning and on the way back yesterday the throttle cut off for the cruise quit working. With the cruise on, there is a lot of play in the throttle so I'm assuming (and I hate to do that) that a cable is broke. Didn't get home till late last night and working the next few days so it will be a while before I get to look into it more. Oh yeah and that hurricane Dorian might be an issue as well... Cruise works fine and it cuts off fine with the front/rear brakes, just nothing on the throttle. Anybody else had this problem and have any pointers, I'd appreciate the info.

... don't fix something that ain't broke... try it again on fairly level
ground, bet it works!!! .. hold the set button for a few seconds...
I think the speed control lost speed regulation
and gave it up... IIRC, it happened to me once, yes, I have a lot of play
in mine too... someday.... yeah.... monyanna....

Kept trying it all the way home but still wouldn't cut off with the throttle. Last 2 hrs home was level ground.....but hopefully you're right.

Re: Throttle cut off for cruise control?
If you have the cruise set on 60 and you turn the right grip (throttle) down, to lower the speed, it cancels the cruise just like hitting the brakes. Or mine always did until Sat. I've had it since 2009 and it's always worked like this. Yes the brakes still cancel it out, but somethings not right

Re: Throttle cut off for cruise control?
It sounds as if the throttle return cable may have broken, which would prevent the cruise cancel switch from being activated.
The switch itself may have also failed, but that would not cause an increase in throttle play.
Let us know what you find out.

Re: Throttle cut off for cruise control?
Well I found the problem. The throttle decel cable is broken. It broke about a 1/4" from where it attaches in the grip. Even worse, Kawasaki evidently decided we wouldn't need any more and no longer makes them. Every where that I have looked says they are discontinued from the manufacturer and no longer available. Thought I had found one on the Motion Pro web site but it turned out to be a speedometer cable. I know Carl has some used ones so I guess I'll get back up with him. Gonna browse the web a little more but doubtful that a new will be found.

Re: Throttle cut off for cruise control?
If Carl does not have any,you might be able to get one from Barnett,or Motion Pro.
If that does not work send me a PM with your address,I changed all my cables and hoses, and still have the old ones,
I had been lubing them and they still worked smoothly, but wanted to change them when I could get them and had a chance.

Re: Throttle cut off for cruise control?
Spoke with Carl this afternoon and he does have some used ones. At that time I thought I could get one from Motion Pro and he suggested I get the new one. But it turns out that they only had speedometer cables that would fit the Voyager. I was going to call Carl back and get a used one but kept looking online and I ordered one from MegaZip.net whom I have never heard of before. They do seem to have good reviews so hopefully it will work out. Looked at all the standbys, cheapcycleparts, babbits, kawasakipartshouse, bikebandit, revzilla......all "unavailable...discontinued by manufacturer". It may be Christmas before it gets here; if they do indeed have it, but I can still ride without the decel cable...

Re: Throttle cut off for cruise control?
from my understanding and my operation of my CC is the switch is mounted on a plate which when the free play of the return cable is pulled back the switch operates . Most that I have seen have been rusted in place. find the connection on the left under the faux tank cover and test its operation with buzz box or multimeter or test lamp and jumper .

I thought MotionPro could make any cable you wanted: https://www.motionpro.com/c/custom-cables

Re: Throttle cut off for cruise control?
Well, so much for the MegaZip option. Got an email that the transaction was cancelled because it's no longer available from the manufacturer. Haven't been able to get back up with Carl yet but hopefully I can get one through him. Yes I could get one custom made from Motion Pro but I'm not sure the length, etc. I'm not in a big rush but it's something I definitely want to get done before next riding season.

It's definitely the cable that's broken...ekap1200 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2019 1:26 pm from my understanding and my operation of my CC is the switch is mounted on a plate which when the free play of the return cable is pulled back the switch operates . Re: Throttle cut off for cruise control?
Picked up a used one on Ebay that looks pretty good. Couldn't never get back up with Carl. Spoke with him initially but never answered when I tried to call him back to get one from him. Just an extra winter project to look forward too...
