1 carb has more vacuum then the rest 86 voyager12
hello. im trying to sync my carbs on 86 voyager xii . #3 will stall bike if vac port is left open but no other 1 will stall bike if left open. I only left 1 at a time open to get this effect. HELP. bike runs rough at idle and exhaust is rich all the time. should I take vacuum off of igniter and plug it b4 I synch. manual doesn't say to do that but I thought maybe im missing something. I tried to adjust 1and 2 and then 3 and 4 then middle screw to pull all 4 the same. is it possible for the butterflies to b open to much ? I had idle set around 850 900 . obviously the idle goes higher when I try to turn adjusting screw out on 1 and 2 to pull them together. do I keep readjusting idle screw to pull idle back down each time I adjust a side ?? does the high vacuum pull on # 3 explain why bike is running rich? are the rest not pulling enough vac?

I sent you a PM.
Over the years I've torn my carbs down 3 times for cleaning/inspection. A couple of years ago I decided I would do a serious rebuild. After pricing rebuild kits, I decided to just buy rebuilt carbs from Carl. That was another wise decision on my part. Carl tunes for performance and not mpg. My bike picked up a few horse power. It was the equivalent of taking a heavy flywheel off a motor and substituting a light flywheel. Way more fun! I've not checked mpg since putting his carbs on my bike.

Hello from NJ... "does the high vacuum pull on # 3 explain why bike is running rich? are the rest not pulling enough vac? " A higher vacuum means the throttle plate is closed more than the others.... And yes to adjusting the Idle screw , until your done setting the vacuum every time you move a throttle plate your going to change the Idle speed Go back over the sync...truckerchaz wrote: ↑Mon Mar 30, 2020 2:42 pm hello. im trying to sync my carbs on 86 voyager xii . #3 will stall bike if vac port is left open but no other 1 will stall bike if left open. Hello Gene. Update. I kept playing with synch and now all are reading the same vac on gauges but still runs rich . When pulled tops of carbs to chk slides I noticed on front side of slide on #2 there is quite a noticable amount of wear . I'm gonna look at the slides on my other set of carbs to c if one in there is better looking and swap it ? I'm waiting to hear from Carl ,I may be sending carbs to him .
