Jim, aka "jaynes",
My 4 amber lights from Speedway Motors have arrived. Look very professional and nice and sturdy.
Do you have an availability on the necessary chrome mounts that you are making? I am interested. I see from previous comments in the threads the chrome go for $125 a pair.
I'll need to do that.

Thanks!

Hello from NJ, I have not seen or heard from Jim since the Kanab, Utah rally. Has anyone heard from him ? I may have a set of the brackets he made for the forks' I will need a day or so to hunt them down.
Gene Kap.
Let me know if anyone has any info on Jim.

ekap1200,

No, I've had no reply in maybe over a week or two? Not sure.
I would be very interested in the pair of chrome mounting brackets, if you don't need them? My project is nearing completion, and I need these brackets to mount my four fork lights. I could not ever locate the OEM lights kit from Kawasaki, though i've had lead after lead to dealerships that supposedly showed them "in Stock" on the dealers computer inventory system. So I gave up that journey.
These will have to do.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.
Thanks,
Christopher

I think now that everyone knows where to get the light units that the brackets in a nice polished stainless steel would be a good seller. Just sayin'

ekap and Dave,
I will agree.
I have 4 of the lights now...and need to mount them.
I have NOT heard a thing back at all from Jim, maybe he's on a trip, or challenging Mt.Everest with a personal Sherpa?

I'd like to get my four fork lights installed as soon as can be, so my forward visibility is maxxed!

Friends, Please pass along if anyone hears from Jim (jaynes). Hope he's okay.
Best regards,

Speaking of the fork lights, does anybody know why there are 2 versions of the locale of the curved flat stock which wraps around the fork leg? On one version the curved flat stock is connected to the caliper mounting portion up at the top bolt hole and on another version, the one shown in 'Accessories" of the Tech Center, the curved flat stock is connected at the mid-point of the caliper mounting portion?
As well the former has a dogleg to one of the 2 bolt holes of the caliper mounting portion and on the latter the holes are in alignment on the mounting portion.
Just curious what the reason for this difference is, that's all.

I forgot to mention in my last post that the BA9S bulbs can be had in amber LEDs. I did this and they are brighter than the tungsten with lower amp draw.

Dave,
Thank you!
I will be ordering 4 of those LEDs to replace the tungsten. Great idea! And less amps.

Dave,
Do we need to order the single contact base, or dual? Amazon shows the BA9S in both configurations (was surprised to see that).
I don't have the new marker lights here to check the sockets.
Thanks.

Glad they worked out well. I found the leds brighter in my fork lights than the tungsten filaments, and they will last so much longer.
If you are going to keep the bike for a long time I would suggest some spare lenses as they get pretty pitted and dirty from being so close to all that highway debris/small stones/sand etc., although that does take a lot of miles to occur.

Gene Kap built and sold to me new versions (left and right sides) of the fork caliper bolt mounts fur these four lights.
Due to long work hours again i haven't had available time yet to install the for new yellow lights, though I've replaced the stock incandescent bulbs with LEDs. The test shows they look nice with LEDs.
I will post some pics.

I have tested and swapped LED's for these new lights. But no time yet to finish the mounting or wiring installation, nor any pictures. Have been delayed by major work on my lifted Ford F250 turbo-diesel Power Stroke Diesel.
Still have a front brake caliper to rebuild on my '95 Voyager, that hangs up when it's warmed up. Honestly can't find details on how to release the caliper piston from the caliper housing. Service Manuals don't provide that detail. Neither do Posts on AVA (I've searched.)

DocSnowFox,when I rebuilt my calipers,I just used the master cylinder to pump the piston out,and yes it does spill fluid out,so do not get any on the plastic by touching the plastic with fluid on your hands. Also protect your plastic as you refill the master as you bleed the calipers. :hmm:
You will need to make sure the piston bore is clean and smooth before reassembly.
Where did you get the rebuild kit?
I have a c-clamp I use to reassemble the caliper/piston.

I use compressed air with rag wrapped around caliper and piston to prevent damage. Just a quick shot will pop it out.
