Why I like Gertrude Better Than Geraldine

Post by GrandpaDenny »

I just feel like bitching about the Shadow LOL. Ordered a regulator, and guess I'll try push-starting the little POS. Have no idea what to do about the starter clutch, because it's no longer available and haven't been able to find one. I also don't much feel like investing in the special tools it takes to remove the flywheel to get at it. So if it'll push start then I might not fix the starter clutch. Get the new tires on, attack it with a can of spray paint, and get rid of it I guess.

I'm sure you could find a used piece online at one of many salvage yards out there. Or check Ebay for a parts bike. It's a lot of work for questionable used parts.

Sorry we haven't gotten together. Finally pretty much finished my BMW project but work has been really busy so my HD has not yet been road tested to prove the charging system. :-(
Having fun whenever possible is never overrated!

I ordered a regulator last week; it should be here any day now. Got a cheapie non-stock one off of eBay - I no longer much care about keeping the stock look. Maybe I'll think about putting an OEM one on after I get the bike running and ready for sale. I got offered $400 for her the other day, as is, which doesn't quite cover my costs (including title fees, that I haven't paid yet, so I have to do a dual transfer), including the new tires (that I haven't had installed yet). I'm reluctant, also, to sell her in her present condition, as it kind of gives me a guilty conscious. On the other hand, I need the money more than I need the bike, as I'm trying to move out of this horrible building. <sigh> Decisions, decisions...

So... this weekend, actually in a couple of hours, Gertrude and I are going over to Gene's to install the Progressive front springs. I'm also hoping we can get the much-delayed fuel filter replaced today too. I got invited for a ride with a couple from the Concours Owners Group, but took a rain check. GOT to get this suspension fixed!

The regulator arrived yesterday. Looks... like a regulator :rolling: Actually looks like it's well done.

It was rainy most of the day today and I was zonked out in my recliner most of the day :tired: - five hours nap! Guess it had something to do with staying out until midnight last night. Went over to a friend's house after leaving Gene's last night, and gave his roomate a ride around the apartment complex. Young lady had never been on a motorcycle before. She enjoyed it, and especially the comfort. She said if it wasn't so comfortable she might've been scared! LOL :hpdc:
