Just a note regarding the speedometer cables. Seems that they have been discontinued by the manufacturer now. Mine broke a couple of weeks ago and I have ordered from two sources online and both orders have been cancelled after a few days due to not being available now. I spent the last 2 hrs on the phone with 5 or 6 parts houses and have had no luck in finding any. Had two that said they were in stock but when they tried to put their hands on them, they were not there. I have just placed another online order and crossing my fingers that they have it. Just a heads up in case someone has found an alternate cable that might work?? I have an old one that I'm putting back in but wanted to have a backup as well...

Ordered one from Bike Bandit yesterday afternoon. Will find out in a few days if they actually have one....if they cancel, I'll order one of the Motion Pro models.. Thanks, one of the suppliers I spoke with yesterdays said there was not an aftermarket cable that would fit.....glad to hear there are!!!

Well that didn't take long....received notification from Bike Bandit that the order was cancelled. How do you have an item on sale that has been discontinued?? Oh well, will check out the Motion Pro one....twice the price but maybe it will last twice as long?

I got the receiver and oil seal. But I tested the old one in the drive gear. I have no idea how to take the stick piece out. I should have left it alone. I’m not sure what to do next.

Any hint would be much appreciated

using the nomenclature and part numbers of a "Front Hub" parts illustration, just what is it exactly you are having trouble with?
You DO have a shop manual correct? We need more definite descriptions to be able to help.

Years ago when I worked for a dealer, we dealt with a shop that Calibrated speedometers for Police /vehicles and such. they rebuilt alt/gen and had a speed shop also. They would manufacture cables for many such hard to find Classic/antique vehicle. You could look up any shops that calibrate speedometers and give them a ring.

I was able to put the new seal on (pic attached). I’m still not sure what grease I should use to grease it.
