Covid

Post by cushman eagle »

Peg and I just got cleared from quarantine for covid  on Wednesday.
For me,it was like having a cold
For her,it was like a cold with losing her smell and taste.
It took 6 days to get the test results back, and by the time we got the results back,it was 13 days after we had symptoms. :hmm:

Sorry to hear you had it, but glad to hear you were not too sick. My brother had Covid and he said he had never been so sick for so long. His wife was not so lucky, she didn't make it. Looking forward to seeing you and everyone at the rally. Hopefully we will have one.

Sorry to hear about COVID infections. This is a serious disease, Trisha and I just got our first shot last Tuesday. We are still staying real close to home. After returning from the Eastern Regional ride-in I had to quarantine for 2 weeks

Glad you made it ok Loren. My lady friend Marcie got it in early November and almost died. She dropped her dog off at my house after having it for a week and went to the hospital. I never thought I would see her again. It was very sad, one month later I got to see her in the hospital. She’s still not completely recovered. It’s a bad illness. I signed up,for the rally haven’t made my hotel reservations yet but I hope I can get the vaccine many months before the rally so I’ll be safe. If no vaccine I will cancel .

Welcome to the club of survivors Loren!
It is so sad when we hear of those who were not as fortunate. I too was positive and basically never knew I was sick. I have a dry cough I've been getting for nearly 2 decades this time of year and that was about the extent of it with the exception of a massive headache for two days.
In our family besides myself, 5 (3 of our kids and 2 spouses) tested positive and have made it through successfully (
Thank GOD! ), the new grandbaby is fine.
GOD's speed in recovery to all who are positive and prayers to everyone affected by this evil awful virus.

In NH, the Mrs and I fall into the Mar - May range for availability. If all goes well, J&J's vaccine will get added to the list of vaccines by the end of Feb. This one is only 1 shot, not 2.

Hearing that about 40% or so of people vaccinated wind up feeling like they have Covid after the 1st shot, and then it can be even worse after the 2nd shot. Not everyone gets this though and most just get injection site soreness and a little fatigue for a day or 2. I don't know that we have a choice of vaccine though. You sign-up in NH and I think you get what you get.

If I got Covid and it was basiically like cold symptoms for me, I'd probably pass on the vaccine for now to let others that may need it more than me be able get it. I have seen where NH will supposedly be issuing vaccination cards as proof of being vaccinated, so there is that, versus having it and recovering. You should have some amount of immunity either way though.

Not sure if others noticed this, but I think partly due to Covid, any decent used bikes last year were selling as fast as they were posted on Craigslist. Riding is something fun you can do and still social distance.

I called about a bike that was on Craigslist for 12 hours and it already had a deposit on it. A second one sold before I could get to it (was out of state). When I found my 2003 Voyager, I called the morning it was posted and arranged to see it as early as was convenient for the seller. Was happy to get it and got the better part of last season in and looking forward to warmer weather. I think I was destined to get this bike for a number of reasons, but one was that it was the exact price of my first stimulus check :-D

Our daughter, who works in hospice care, got covid in the middle of December with mild symptoms. When the vaccine became available, she had to get the shot because of her work, and got much sicker from the shot than having the disease :hmm:

Just a side note, but I'm hearing that the Moderna vaccine is more prone to the "feeling like crap" side effect than the Pfizer one. Unfortunately I don't think people are getting a choice of what vaccine they get.
