Sctrach protection when geting on my Voyager

Try as I might, I am a bit too short and can't flex enough to miss my saddlebag when getting on! The top trim from Kawasaki does look like it protrudes enough deflect.

I read through a post a few months ago about using a patching material. Been searching for it with no luck. Web searches haven't helped. I'm not carrying a passenger and I even thought about removing the passenger rest on the truck lid so I have more room to swing my leg.

Suggestions would be very helpful.

.. don't swing, shoot!!! Pull your right foot up like you're gonna kick yourself in the
jewels, and just in time, shoot your foot over the seat - while holding on to your foot,
if needed, to pull up a tad more... over and down...

I have a drivers backrest and swinging is not enough......

Was thinking if either the kick or center stand was down and stable, you could put one foot on the foot peg prior to mounting and that gives you a few more inches to get up/over the seat. I'm 6' 1" and not sure even I could swing my leg over the trunk. I do more like the "kick through" approach mentioned.

I have similar issue and found a you tube video where they demonstrated getting on from the high side. Step on the foot board while leaning into the bike and gives me enough clearance. Be mindful of where your body is positioned so the bikes remains put. After a few awkward attempts I found it works for me.

I bend my leg and I don't have to put the knee over everything, just over the seat, the foot swings over the backrest. A definite bonus is that doing it this way my size 15 doesn't kick the passenger radio controls, muting the radio. That one drove me nuts when I first got the bike It also saves the trunk from the impact of said size 15 steel toes, which is probably, now that I think about it, how my trunk hinge got knocked loose.

Just watched a couple of videos....there wee times when I was mounting the bike with traffic pretending i wasn't along the side of the road....I like the idea of mounting from the high side.

.. one more thought... if you pull your right leg up and kick yourself in the right
cheek, is your foot high enough to clear the seat? Just hold it with your right
hand while you shoot it over the seat.

Interesting....I forgot that the more someone does a stretch, the easier it is to stretch beyond the limit I experienced before....only limitation now is one pair of pants that are too tight due to winter over feeding.

I figured out last year that if you use the left passenger floor board as a step when getting on it lifts you higher, thus avoiding the seat with your boot. Try it you will like it.
