Third gear popping on voyager zg1200

Third gear popping on voyager zg1200

I have a 1994 voyager zg 1200 third gear has been popping. Today while riding i noticed the shifter sticks up in third until i let the clutch out....could this be a linkage issue in the external shift mechanism?
