Replacement key switch for 1985 Voyager?

Post by ClintsMotorcycles »

Hello,

The key switch on my 1985 ZN1300A3 Voyager is going bad. When I turn the key to 'on' I have to wiggle it a bit before it actually turns on (that is, I can hear the main relay click and the fuel pump starts pumping).

I cannot find an oem replacement, which according to my research should be 27005-5034. I would even take an aftermarket one even if I have to splice in some wires or connectors. From my service manual, the switch should have 7 wires, White, Brown, Blue/White, Blue, Red, White/black and Orange/Green. When off, no wires are connected, when ON, White, Brown and Blue/White are connected, Blue and Red are connected and White/Black and Orange/Green are connected. I do not care about Park and ACC, so, even a simple on/off key switch that can connect 3 separate circuits would work for me.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Ride safe

I have zero experience with Kawasaki ignition switches but I've had a bunch of mid 80's Hondas and they all used basically the same switch and the switches could be dissasembled to clean the electrical contacts inside. Maybe the Kawasaki switches are similar?

Old post, I know, but did you ever have any luck cleaning the switch?
