86 Voyager fuel leak??
I've not been able to ride my bike for a few years -arthritic bone-on-bone knee - and am trying to get it in running condition enough to sell it. Got it going yesterday but saw fuel falling onto the garage floor. Quickly shut it down. This morning, I pulled the side panels, tried again to start it and saw the fuel coming out of this long fuel line. I do NOT know where the line belongs, if it has become disconnected or if it is a drain line doing its job showing something else is wrong? Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks. Here's a couple pics.

Can't tell what line. If it hooks to the bottom of the carbs, you have a leaky float valve.

I can't tell exactly where it starts - I'll try for some better pics tomorrow.

Re: 86 Voyager fuel leak??
That's the carb overflow line. You have a sticky float - very common when a vehicle sits. Try tapping on the sides of the fuel bowls with the handle of a screwdriver. If that helps, then put some fresh gas and some seafoam in her.
BTW the screws on the bottom of the carbs are drains. Drain the fuel out of all four, it's old and nasty. When you close them, don't crank them down too hard. Takes a 3mm hex, BTW.

Re: 86 Voyager fuel leak??
Thanks a million guys - yes, it is the drain line for the carbs. Next trip out to the garage I'll try blunt force trauma to the carb bowls. lol Hopefully that will cure it sufficiently to keep it running. My goal is to sell the bike in at least running condition. Everything else on the bike works 100%.

You still might want to consider a carb rebuild at some point. There's probably pretty substancial varnish and ick throughout the fuel circuits. Seafoam will, however, work wonders until you can do the rebuild. After rebuild, these bikes are FFFFAAAASSSSTTTTT! Only six MPH difference between a VXII and a Concours 1000. Also only six feet differene in stopping distance. With braided lines and semi-metallic pads they will stop FAST. Surprisingly high-performance machines for being luxo-barges. I call them Luxury Sport-Tourers.

Re: 86 Voyager fuel leak??
Carb removal and cleaning is not an option for ME at this point in my life. I will leave that ungodly chore to the next owner. I have installked braided lines and good brake pads. Halogen running lights too.
If the carb smacking doesn't freed up the float, I'm thinking the first $750 from someone with a trailer will take the bike.

Re: 86 Voyager fuel leak??
I haven't tried this, but I bet it's possible to remove the outside float bowls without a general anesthetic. You might be able to sort which carb is leaking ... and that might be one that's acceesible.
And if it's a wonky float valve, that would be accessible too.
I'd look for an independent shop (that doesn't mind the occasional low-baller) and see what they say. Might be a lot cheaper than a fire sale. You might even be able to talk a kid (one that's lurking about the shop) into coming to your house. This generally is a pretty simple repair.
Or yeah, make somebody's day with a smokin' deal.

Re: 86 Voyager fuel leak??
Spent about an hour just now trying to free the stuck float(s) - no joy. I know the bike WILL fire and run but obviously not with gas coming out of the drain line.
Clear title, 39,778 original miles, no accidents, aux. running lights. Radio works fine.
First $750 cash from someone with a trailer and a helper to load the bike will close the deal. For reference I'm about 2 miles East of Chicago Midway Airport.
PM me with any other questions.
