If you find your garage is just getting to small, you could park one of them in mine.Only about 400 miles away.

I just came back from a 3700-mile trip from Ottawa, Canada to Helen, GA and back, with a stop at Americade in Lake George NY. I rode with a friend who was attending a Victory Motorcycle Club rally in Helen. Good times were had. We kept track of our mileage for the whole trip, and results were not in my favor. While he was getting at least 45 mpg on average with his Vision, my average was more in the 38-39 mpg range. I had the new ECU installed before this trip. We did mostly Interstate riding, usually at the speed limit (65-70 mph).
On another subject, while riding to my hotel from Americade/Lake George, I came upon a car-bike accident where a woman in a car made a left turn and cut off a rider. The man was on the road with a broken arm and who knows what else. The next day, we heard that the same road was closed for hours after another bike accident, this time with two fatalities. Just a sober reminder that you can never take your eyes off the road.

I would say that the Vision is definitely more aerodynamic than the Voyager. I'll take the lower gas mileage for the better look though. That Vision is a nice riding machine. Did you and your friend discuss the heat difference between bikes? You know rider comfort level with regard to the heat?

The Vision is definitely more aerodynamic and that makes me think that a shorter windshield may make a difference on the mileage with the Voyager. Heat was a problem with everyone on this trip, especially when we had to stop in traffic. The Vision is air-cooled, so my buddy had to be feeling the heat as much as I was, even though he didn't always admit it... On the up-side, I had no mechanical issues with the Voyager, while he lost part of his gear shifter on the trip home and had to have the bike towed to a dealer for repairs... :gig:

I had the ecm on mine replaced with a new one last summer. I had no change in gas mileage which was always about 36mpg and on a very good day 39 mpg. Well this year, out of the blue my mpg has increased to 40.5 to just over 41.6 the last four times I've filled it up. I haven't changed my riding style or anything else. It's an 09 and has just under 16000 miles on it now. Maybe it finally got broken all the way in. :gig: Anyway, it's running smoother and better than ever now. Whatever brought on this better gas mileage I don't know but I aint complaining. Oh, and by the way, It doesn't matter if I use gas with or without ethanol, it gets the same mileage with either one.

Very nice. Have you recently changed the oil, cleaned the air filter, or any other maintenance that might have changed something?

Since having the 2nd ECU replacement on my Voyager, I'm noticing some exhaust discoloration on the right side muffler. Definite blueing. Anyone else seeing the same thing? It's just about mid point on only the right side muffler section.

Doesn't that usually mean a lean condition which is causing too much heat in the exhaust?

From working on street rods and stock cars, yes that is usually a heat problem causing the blueing from a very lean condition. But, those were carbed vehicles, I would think with fuel injection you would not have that same problem.

Stock fuel injection maps are set lean to meet EPA emissions standards, so blueing can occur. This is why putting the bike on a dyno and having a newer map created or uploaded is a cure for some issues in fuel injected bikes.

Another mileage update.....just did 1250 mile trip in Northern Michigan.....put the stock windshield on.....50% riding at 70mph... 50% at 55mph ....averaged 41.2 mpg over the 4 days.....dropped 2-3 mph because of the taller shield....still pretty good :hpdc:

Bluing is considered a sign of beauty on a bike that is ridden often in the BMW World. There are several products (Blue Away, Wizards Out of the Blue, Blue Job...be careful how you google that one, and other products). that can clean it up. I agree bluing should be less common in a lower reving, water cooled machine.
