Loren, I can see Peggy in the teal colored hack with a long white scarf blowing in the wind as you motor down the road.

I'm not so sure either rig could get up enough speed to make a scarf flow in the wind enough to keep it out of the chain, so that could be dangerous!

Somebody help me out here. There is a famous true story of a woman riding in a Bugatti roadster, wearing a long white scarf that got caught in the spokes of the rear wheel, breaking her neck when it yanked her out of the car. I can't remember her name right now. Anybody?

Personally, I would love either of these little rigs for leisurely rides in the summer evenings!

On September 14, 1927, dancer Isadora Duncan is strangled in Nice, France, when the enormous silk scarf she is wearing gets tangled in the rear hubcaps of her open car. (“Affectations,” said Gertrude Stein when she heard the news of Duncan’s death, “can be dangerous.”)

Thank you, Mike! I'm ashamed to have forgotten her name since I am an amateur Bugatti historian and knew which car she was killed in, but not her name!
Not long after her death, someone "invented" an electric scarf that plugged into the cigar lighter on the dash. It was called the Isadora scarf!

I had a friend in CA who was riding his motorcycle down the freeway with his tai-chi (sp?) robe bundled and tied on the back of his seat. It also fell into the rear wheel and jammed it so he went skidding and fell, only to be run over by a pickup and killed.

No scarves or other terribly loose clothing, guys!

You're welcome. I cringe when I remember as a kid my blue jeans getting caught in my bicycle chain! :-O
