Mid-Atlantic Voyagers fall ride in

This year the Mid-Atlantic Voyagers fall ride in will be in or around Altoona Pa.

It will be sept. 23-25, I will have motel info in a couple of weeks.

I will need an idea of how many will be attending so let me know in the next week or two if you plan to attend.

We will be staying at the Wye motor lodge for the fall ride in.
there rates that they gave us is 69.95 a night, They only have 20 rooms left for Fri. 9/23 and Sat.
9/24 so make your reservations ASAP.
The Wye motor lodge would not block rooms for us.
So it's important that you get your reservations in ASAP and you don't have to mention that you are with the Mid-Atlantic Voyagers.
Let me know when you have reservations so I can get a count of how many are going.
If they would fill up there is a Motel 6 down the road for about the same rate, Also there are other motels in the area but the rates may be higher.

Altoona Pennsylvania; is (or at least was) the railroad capital of the world. One of the more important engineering feats in transportation was completed here in 1854, before the Civil war of our great nation. Below is a photograph of the world famous Horseshoe Curve taken at night time. This image was the result of 6,000 flash bulbs strategically placed along the curve as well as along the water in the nearby reservoir. In addition an aerial flare/rocket was utilized to assist with the illumination effort. This image is the result of months of effort and planning between both the Pennsylvania Railroad and Sylvania Elec Products company in 1954 marking the 100th anniversary of the curve and 75th anniversary of the incandescent lightbulb. Just 14 years later the rails ownership would be the Penn Central RR in 1968, then in 1976 Conrail and in 1999 it became Norfolk Southern Railway. Still to this day the 3 track span is an amazing feature, especially when you consider that the engineers didn't have the advantage of todays computers and technology!

We ran into Kevin and his wife in McVeytown last Sunday while they were on their way to Altoona....super nice people! We're gonna try to make it to the ride in as long as nothing else gets in the way,lol. I won't be riding the trusty old Voyager though,I went through a mid life crisis 2 weeks ago and bought a new Gold Wing,lol. Ride safe!!!

For the People that are not staying at the Wye motor Lodge or are local and want to join us.
Friday night we will meet at the Wye motor Lodge around 7:00 and ride to dinner I will post the place next week.
The Saturday schedule is we will meet at the Wye motor lodge at 7:30 and then ride to Breakfast from there we will start the ride.

I was informed that the Wye motor lodge is booked up.
there are a lot of other motels in the area, there is a motel 6 just down the road that has about the same rates.
I would call the Wye lodge first just in case they have a cancellation.

OK folks, everyone is welcome to go where they want (speaking of meals at least) but what I've done in preparation of our Ride-In was set up reservations at King's for Friday evening 7:00 for the group. The manager scheduled the back room for us which will definitely be large enough without question, if they as the reservations are under my name Scott Barley.
For breakfast Saturday morning 8:00-8:30'ish we'll go to Eat'n-Park, when I called and talked to them they took the info and assured me that they would be ready to accommodate out group (under the name Mid-Atlantic Voyagers).
Saturday evening Beth and I won't be able to be with you for dinner as we have a family function that we must attend but we'll be re-joining the group ASAP. For dinner I suggested to Kevin that the group go to Hoss's Steak and Sea house.
Each of these locations have very reasonable prices and menus to satisfy everyone. Just click on each restaurant name (link) for to go to their respective on-line menu.
Looking forward to meeting each and everyone of you, some again and others for the first time!
Travel safely folks the weather is projected to be very much in our favor with temps in the upper 70's with only a slight chance of evening showers!!!!!
