Voyager 1700 Factory Rear Cylinder Cooling Kit

Post by woody92354 »

Love my new 2010 Voyager 1700..but boy, does that rear cylinder throw off some heat on warm days. Want to know anyone's opinion on the $400 Kawasaki cooling kit. Specifically, item states it RECOMENDS it be installed by a dealer. 1.) is dealer install really needed, or can your average shade-tree mechanic ( meaning me) do it? 2.) has anyone here installed it? 3.) Does it work, regardless of who installs it? 4.) Is it worth it?

On my 09, I had the dealer install the KAMS kit in 2012 after I looked at the directions and realized I wasn't techie enough to do it. It definitely shifts the heat away from you and is worth it to me.

Thanks Joe. I kinda figured it was worth the money. Since I got a good deal on the bike, figure I'll spend the $400 to improve it. Just curious, what did you pay dealer to install?
