What is up with the classified ads section?

Post by Mr Jensee »

I seldom go to the classified section but now every single time I go there I get kicked out. I have to log back into the AVA and I cannot just go back to it. What gives? How do you sell something if the classifieds kick you out?

What do you mean you get kicked out.
I have been logged in for over 10 minutes now. I' am still logged in,
I have even placed a coupe of test adds.
I have not been kicked out once.
I was logged in for a hour and it still has not kicked me out.

I just went over to classifieds and spent maybe ten minutes browsing, then hit my back button and it brought me right back to the forums, still logged in. Seems to be working for me as expected.

Figures that this just happens to me. WF browser works on this site? None I've tried has worked. And NO I will not download Google Chrome. It is a crap browser. If things don't get straightened out I will not be renewing my membership. This upgrade is a joke.

Sorry that you feel this way but the up grade has nothing to do with the classifieds.
The classifieds are a totally different program and it would run with out the up grade to the forum and we would not need the forum for the classifieds to work. Not sure why you have so much trouble with it but it seams to be a singled out issue that has something with you system as I have not heard of any one else having so many issues as you are having.

I have found that it is necessary for me to log into the Classifieds separately from the AVA site. Annoying, but once logged in, it works normally for me. Which browser are you using? Might help to figure out the issue. Could be a number of settings in your browser. Cheers!

Curious how this has only happened after the update. Sorry I don't believe it is related to my system. I have 3 computers and I have the same problem on all of them. How can a problem with the "system" affect all three computers ONLY on this site? The website is flawed. I have checked and double checked, run malware and antivirus software. I have found nothing. I can log into my bank, I have kept my log in for AB Bike board, my email address programs all without a problem.

I use Firefox mostly, but sometimes use IE. Both of them worked fine when I tested going into the classifieds. I'm also running Windows 10, so if there are going to be glitches, it would be with 10 !!!
Mike, might want to upgrade from DOS or Windows 95! Just kidding, of course. Just trying to lighten the mood.
I recently took some Windows 10 classes at our local library. One thing we learned is that a lot of new programs and platforms are scrambling to work well with 10, but then they are still wrestling with the compatibility issues with mac users. I'm not that savvy as to know what's going on, but I can sure see how trying to accommodate 10 would screw everything else. 10 has screwed up a lot of the PC world for now. It outdated ALL of my flight sims instantly!
Mike, are you running a MAC?

Not running a Mac. 1 Windows desktop with all the latest updates, 2 laptops again with all the updates. All running Windows 10. All have a minimum of 4 gigs of ram. I had to use an Apple computer for a week on the job once and trust me I would never own one. Most of the operations are ass backwards of a Windows computer. Been using a Windows computer since Windows 3.1 back in early eighties.

I hate that all these issues seem to be targeting you. I run window 10 on home pc, google chrome on my android, firefox on my old windows 7 at work and my wife has windows 8 on her laptop. All of them have no issues with the classified section, or any other website issues. Have been logged in on multiple devices at the same time and have not been thrown out. I really am stumped on this one, I am no expert, but usually seem to figure out some sort of solution to ongoing problems.
I hope this gets sorted out for you soon!!!

OK, tried a little experiment. I refreshed my modem, and modem only. I did have to re enter my username and password on AVA sights, and a couple of others. This only effected my PC and my wifes laptop that is tied to that modem. My android as well as my work computer still remembered me and I did not have to re enter any usernames or password. So maybe the issue is with the modem and or your service provider depending on some sort of refresh rate there. I have automatic log in on several sights, and that modem refresh seemed to effect just shy of half of them that I have already gone back into!!

When you say refresh your modem do you mean a reboot? Because I have done several reboots of the modem during the past few weeks for other reasons.

Yes I do this process several times a week and I clear my browser history, cookies, dowloaded images several times a week slso. One thing about resetting you modem some times it's best to unplug it for at least 10 sec. or more. Depending on how you provider is set it my or my not receive the same up address or you my receive a new IP address. That is totally of to your provider.
Now when you delete all your browser history , cookies , and download images it forces the browser to reload everything anew. So if you say that you have done this and browser did not ask you for user names and passwords for all site's that you go to then that means that you did not complete the step of deleting cookies as this is where that information is stored.
You also have to remeber to when you connect to are server that just to get to are server you might have had to go through many more servers just to get to are server.

Another thing that can cause a drop out to a server is bad lines or another term noisy lines. It is a bout like being in a room with one person it is pretty easy to talk one on one but now let's put say thirty more people in there now it can become a little more discerning to hear the conversation with the one you were carrying on the conversion originally.
There could be packet's of information not being received because the line is choked on the inbound side or it could be vis versa packets not getting out to tell the server that it recieved what it sent now send the next packetof info.

This was and is more of a issue with dial up service and some DSL Service and the greatest thing is just how fast is you actual speed. Down load is usually alot faster then upload that is how service providers control you usage yes it is the up load they control. Because if you can't tell the other end that you recieved the packet and to send more it will just stall out.
There are many other things that can cause issues but how far do I go. I think this should be give you a brief overview of just how things can go wrong.
