Did I oversleep?

Post by cushman eagle »

I thought it was yesterday,11-18-16,that I rode the VXII in 74 degree weather to make a parts run. :woohoo: Now it is 34 and snowing. :cold: Was that really only one day apart,or did I oversleep a couple days/weeks :hmm:

I ran around in sandals, shorts and t-shirt yesterday, but today I woke up to 27 degree weather! Granted, it was in the 50's yesterday and people looked at me like I am crazy, but I don't stay outside very long. You can keep that snow, though, Loren!

BTW, Cindy (a shrink!) says that people who run around half naked like I do in cold weather can be "committed"! Hey, what's a guy to do when he needs to cut plywood and it's snowing outside? Maybe they will let me out long enough to attend the 2017 rally?

You should see the streets of Sioux Falls, S.D., and all points north of them! Big snow storm swept across the northern states the last couple of days. it's the same storm front that is sweeping your area right now, but broken up a bit by now.

Last year as we watched our first snowfall coming down, if you got down on your hands and knees on the porch you could see it turn to rain about 3' above the ground! "They" say it's supposed to be heavy this year! I sure hope so because three years ago I built a monster snow blower from a beat up pile and have yet to really be able to use it at it's best! I kinda want at least 16" of snow, and maybe 24" would be fun!

I'm watching the NASCAR race in Miami right now and they are wearing short-sleeved shirts, so don't worry about your trip to Florida! All the hurricanes are past and all looks good! Just hope that bike still wants to run!

Well I hope YOU get the high amount of snow that you are hoping for ! Keep it there in Misery ! As for me ....my snow blower can stay in the corner of the shed ALL winter, never to see the light of day....or the drift of snow ! We have been in leaf clean up mode here for the past month ,wich is a never ending job that I am sick of doing ! Always think about finding a way to get a penny a piece for these millions of leaves EVERY year ! OR building a machine that you put the leaves in the TOP .....and out of the BOTTOM pops a "Duralog " type thing that I could sell or heat my shop with during the winter ! The inventor of this machine would be a rich man !

As for the XII down in Florida..... my buddy Craig Z has been keeping her rolling :rolling: he also has been trying to do something with that horrible Corbin seat that is on that bike, the part of going to Florida that I am NOT looking forward to ,is enduring that torture device for a couple of weeks !

I am thinking of popping off my Russel day long seat (front) and the stock rear section(the Corbin that is on it ,is a one piece),and taking it down with me since it will be unemployed at that time here in Toledo and would need a JOB ! :gig:

I've thought long and hard about a way to mount a mower unit under my spare Voyager to make mowing more fun! I, too, have been cleaning up leaves, but I simply blow them out to the yard and mulch them with my mower, hence the need to have more fun about doing that! Just think,......a 122hp mower! I've see shaft drive bikes used to power portable saw mills before, and even emergency generators in the winter. Hey, maybe I could make up a custom brush-hog sidecar!

Hey, that leaf-log thing sounds like an opportunity for you! I'm sure you are around huge 200 ton presses in your journeys, so ask them to make up a die set to press leaves together into a log. If it works well I'm sure you could get financing for a few presses to get started! Call them "Tony's Tidy Logs".

trikeblder..
I live in sioux falls. Friday sucked washed the bike on Tuesday in the 60s rode it wed in the 60s and Friday it rained and snowed dropped down to the low 30s and the wind blew about 40 mph. they didn't plow our streets in the neighborhood and now the roads are just big ruts and chunks of ice. I guess I should just be glad I was able to ride almost untill Thanksgiving. Need to move somewhere warm, I hate snow. Hopefully only 3 months till I can ride again.

Yeah, I watched you guys getting buried in snow on Accuweather radar. Seems that storm front just popped up quickly. I guess riding season is officially over! Actually, down here in KC and even farther south we will have a lot of cold, but clear days all winter. It really is better once you get south of the Iowa/Misery border. last year I got quite a bit of test riding in as I hooked up my sidecar to my bike. Cold, but rideable.

Friday it was 70's in Upstate NY. Went out for a days ride with the ROEDO (Retired Old Dudes Eating Out) boys. They know every back road diner and ice cream shop in Western NY. Saturday 30's, snow and 50 MPH winds. Got a good day ride in just in time. Still will get out on days with no salt or snow on the road. Far and few days like that in most winters up here.

SNOW??? What exactly is that?? Here in Central Texas it snows once every 10 years( or so) just so we can prove to our children that snow is real & it really does snow. Did frost this morning but then warmed up to the 60s. No bragging or being mean but this time of year is a good time to ride in Central Texas. :cold: :cold: :cold:

:gig: Hey , that's a really good one ! :gig: never heard that acronym before !

I really don't expect to ride again in 2016.....here in Ohio, I got a tad over 8000 miles in of great riding this year, and will have to be satisfied with that, as the weather here has turned really non conducive to enjoyable riding :-(
