Another riding season "in the books"

Post by Lucasind »

Not much happening here lately in the way of riding ...that's for sure ! I think we squeezed every drop of riding that we could get this year. I got about 8000 and change in for the 2016 riding season..... I know , no kinda record but that's what I had time for . The weather here has been bad and likely will remain that way till things start to turn around in March :-( The Gold Rush panel truck has gone down to one of my other garages to wait out the winter, till it's time to go out to the Lake Erie island in the spring. In it's place in the garage is a line up of bikes....also waiting for spring time and warm weather to return .

I have not been working on the ol' stamp frame project lately cause my MC workshop has turned into a auto shop since the middle of November :-( My son crashed the Toyota Camry that I gave him awhile back, ( I think texting and driving was involved).... and I got tired of him borrowing our car, so I found this Toyota on Clist to replace the one that is now a total loss. I saw it advertised in a "not running condition" "needs a water pump" for sale $500.' bucks. I got the feeling that NO one else even called on ....or came to look at this car, and after bothering the guy for a month.....I towed it home for $200. bucks. ( I think he was happy to get rid of me  )

This car is in pretty darn nice shape for a 93".and has not been driven since 2011. The PO had removed the stereo and 4 speakers,so those all had to be replaced. Well as things turn out ....I am glad I only gave $200. bucks for it,cause after changing out the water pump and timing belt, the car would not stay running cause the electric fuel pump in the gas tank had gone bad.....then after fixing that and drove the car for a day, brakelines began popping and they needed replacement, then the power windows and locks had to be repaired, then the car lost ignition spark......then the radiator had to be replaced....then the lines for the rack and pinion steering went to sheet.. I had to tow the car home 2 times to make these further repairs :dm: The car is all done now and runs good and is dependable now that I have put over 100 hours of labor into it and a tad over $600. bucks total, including the purchase price. My wife teases me about my "good deal" but also says that I LIVE for this kind of aggravation, and wouldn't have it any other way ! :gig: (she may be right)
Well I hope the winter will now pass as fast as the summer has...so we can all get the bikes out for some great rides in warmer weather !........................Tony :-D

Well, now that the beater car SEEMS to be running well, the stamper project can resume! Right??? If the car quits again, make Brad ride his bike in the cold! Or, trade the car for a snowmobile!

In less than one week !.........My work is done here,..............Now ....back to the stamp frame project :tired: :hpdc:

WOW ! 9000 miles is a darn good summer's worth of riding there Loren ! also considering our ride up to Wisconsin was the farthest ride of the summer for you ?
You must do a heck of alot of "day trips" to get that many miles ....well done

Yah,Tony, the Hurley ride was by far the longest, and best ride.  The ride to Duncansville also helped. Then a couple rides like 217 miles to go shopping 4 miles away all added up to give me my highest mile year ever. :woohoo: Yah,it is going to be hard to match this year :wnk2:

WOW NEAL ! 26,000 miles for you this year ! NO one is gonna say that you aren't a dedicated rider ! Geez ....I remember not too long ago, that you bought that bike off of Tyler, and the odometer was SHOWING less than 26,000 miles total miles since it was new in 02 ' ! You sure do keep the wheels turning ! wondering what your odometer reading is today, after only having that bike for a couple of years ?

Hello Jack ! , Loren and I were discussing exactly that, ......talking about meeting up sometime over the winter for a fish dinner.....but...the mode of transportation will be by CAR :-( instead of by Voyager !.......it will be after the 1st of the year ,,so stand by, and I will shoot you a PM...................Tony :-D

* MAYBE back to the "Tackle Box" restaurant in your city ....... I still want to see how many cars can make it up that steep hill when it's covered with snow and ice 1 :gig:

I just rode yesterday. Some friends were participating in a toy drive so I rode to another city to be with them. It was a nice day though windy. We enjoyed it though.
