1985 ZG1300 Luggage rack help

Hey Folks,

New here. I own a 1982 Kawasaki Spectre that I'm retrofitting to do a little touring on and I just picked up the top case and side bags to a 1985 voyager. I'm kinda blown away as they had the same color scheme.

I didn't get a rack with the luggage set, but I'm a metal worker and was thinking about just fabricating one... until I looked closely. I'm sure now that I need to buy a rack and retrofit to go on my bike.

But my question is about the way the side bags attach. I've done some digging and can tell they pin in from the inside of the bag, but I'm a little unsure of anything after that. Any of the racks that are on eBay right now don't have this pin, nor do the bags. I looked at the manual and I can kind of get a sense, but still a bit confused. Anybody that can help?

Also anyone have a rack they want to get rid of?

Sounds like you have a set of bags for a ZG XII not a ZN 1300

When I posted this the bags were at my shop. I looked at them yesterday and found that they aren't the type with the pin. The rack they go to has a locking cylinder that points straight up in the air, between the bag and the seat.

It took some digging, but I finally found a listing on ebay that had the missing part. Most of the listings have the locks removed.

Has anyone had any experience with getting these re-keyed?

Originally all 14 locks used the same key so i do not think re-keying them would be to difficult.
Your problem is going to find all the right locks .
