Clarion CB Radio Repair Procedures

Post by Nathan (South Carolina) »

When sending the CB radio to Clarion for repair, do you have to send every component or can you send just the main unit and the CB controller unit on the fairing? I lost my channel display on the CB controller and the unit quit transmitting. :cry2: There is a click when the push-to-talk button is depressed but the TX does not light up. It does receive however and change channels but with no display, it is not possible to know what channel the unit is on. The back lighting on the unit also works. Anyone experienced this problem before?

Don't know about the Clarion part of the question, but my CB did something similar a few months ago. I took the hot battery lead loose for a minute and when I reconnected it, the CB was working again. Hasn't acted up since. I think the "processor" in the CB got hung up and removing all the power reset it. There is a "keep-alive" voltage going to the CB so it will remember what channel you were on when you shut the bike off. Just turning the CB off doesn't reset the entire unit.

You will have to reset the clock and presets on the AM/FM radio, as well, when you take the power off.

Hope this helps.

Rick is correct.
90% of the time just disconnecting and reconnecting the battery will restore the display.

If that doesn't work out for you...
Take your display unit to your local Kawasaki dealer. They will send it in to Clarion. Since they may need to ship other parts as well, talk to the Kaw dealer first. You can no longer send units directly to Clarion. They must be sent through a dealer.
