I just got back from Kentucky today,and found you had your birthday while I was gone.

Thank you for the Happy Birthday wishes .....not much riding here in Toledo , got 320 miles on the XII this year , and 215 miles on the 1300 Voyager , been cold and a lot of rain , I have my XII apart right now ....the water pump went bad on it ....glad it happened now , instead of next month at the AVA rally in WV ....coming up soon ! woo hoo !

Yah,Tony,I did my water pump a while back,need to look at my records.
It was leaking oil out the weep hole,so I got a seal and o-ring kit from Carl.
During the repair,I found my old seal was good,but had slid out of place,so I used shop experience and locktited it in place with blue locktite.
If yours is leaking coolant out,that is a different situation altogether!

....I got the seals and o-rings before I took it apart , thinking I could do the repair and put it back on the bike ....not so much ! one bearing exploded , and the other one is rough in operation ...no coolant leaking, but oil dripping on the hot exhaust , then the next day I saw a small quarter size oil spot on the garage floor.......

So....... got the parts in to finish the repair on my 03' XII,, what I ended up doing is getting the 2 new bearings to rebuild the old pump, and ordered a new pump complete.The new pump complete,was installed today, and the rebuilt pump will sit in my cabinet till needed. After getting the job done ,took the bike out for a 50 mile ride , that annoying vibration that I have felt since the end of last riding season is now gone, been feeling this vibration for the past approx. 600-800 miles, could not put my finger on what it was , but now I know that it was the water pump bearing that exploded,letting the propeller shaft set up a vibration, and the remaining bearing had very rough turning operation.until the oil dripping on the floor showed itself earlier this month , I had been riding the bike like this,but now.. smooth as glass again,,, been riding my 1300 Voyager all this month while waiting on parts and kinda happy to have my XII back in operation.......not bashing the 1300, but the XII is a better bike IMO ...... bike is ready to roll on down to West Virginny to the rally
