It was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G how relaxing it was to come "home" to a house. It was incredibly relaxing, compared to a motel room. We had three empty bedrooms surrounding us. We had a backyard with a beautiful view, and some chairs to enjoy it. The difference it made in comfort, and relaxation, was incredible. We came "home" tired, and worn out. The house was just such a comfort to pull up to, and then to walk into a living room, with a full kitchen, bathroom, and four bedrooms. It truly was our home away from home. We got up one morning, and there was a wild deer laying in the shade, on the front lawn. She wasn't terribly afraid of us, but we kept a respectful distance. That was fun, too.
If you plan on basing from a location, check the prices on an Air B-N-B, compared to a motel room. You might find the prices to be quite close. A house will be awesome, compared to any motel/hotel.
Also, if you get the chance to tour the Pagosa Springs, CO, area, do it! We rode a clover-leaf set of routes we found in a touring MC magazine. You can ride in Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah, while you are there. It is all amazingly beautiful, and different in each State. We would go back tomorrow, if we could. Lots of things to see, and do. The Four Corners Monument is a tourist trap, but it's a fun one. Worth your time. Chimney Rock is also quite a treat, if you can do some mild hiking to the top. Don't miss the Continental Divide if you make the trip! It's full of snow, even though the air temperature is in the 60's F! There's even a gold mine to tour, if you have the desire. The road to it, has signs posted warning of avalanche risks, year-round -- don't touch your horn... Seriously.
