Sometimes when I am replying to a post I strive to be clear and concise and in doing so it takes a while to compost my reply/ies.
And sometimes if it is of a technical nature I like to review what I post for accuracy and completeness before posting and that takes more time.
So to the topic: Is there an automatic time out built in to the forum if "apparent" inactivity is detected? If so what is the time frame for composing a reply/post before being logged out? Several times in recent months I have been composing a post/reply while logged in and when I opt for Submit, a message pops up that I must be logged in to post/reply. So I just moved on without having to reply all over again.
Is the solution saving my post/reply as a draft before I opt for submit? I can do that if necessary but that seems cumbersome to then have to log in again. Perhaps we could examine the time out parameters and lengthen them a bit and advise the membership of any change.
Thanks,
Dave

I have the same problem. I usually , highlight and depress , control / C and it will save your text, if you need to re-post. then just control/V to paste it into the post again.

Not sure why you are timing out on posting. The setting for this is set to never timeout, and it has been set there,-- well,-- I don't know for how long now. But I will look into this further, as I am well aware of the frustration when this happens

Hello Highway Rider;
I have been thinking perhaps it may be on my pc settings so I'm sure between your investigations and my own the solution will be found.
Thanks for the effort,
Dave

Re: timing out of login while posting
Is it possible this happens when you open a reply to a thread but someone else posts a reply before your post in submitted?
EDIT: Just tried the above and received the following message:
"At least one new post has been made to this topic. You may wish to review your post in light of this."
But it didn't change anything in my compose window - i.e. my previously composed response was still all there.

Re: timing out of login while posting
Hello Van Voyager;
I also have had that message and did not lose any of what I had written as I was still logged on.
My occurrence was a total (timed I suspect), logoff and as a result I lost all of the composition I was writing. So I logged in again and all was gone.
