Re: favorite motorcycle roads
Rt 6 along northern part of Pennsylvania, long hilly and winding at times with lots of shade.
State Route 555 in Ohio (the triple nickel) is an amazing road with great views and some amazing sights! While riding the Triple Nickel don't miss the chance to see the Big Muskie Bucket.

Hwy 60 going from Huntsville Ontario through Algonquin park. ( And only done in a transport but planning to ride one day...219 down from I 90 into Virginia, just about all of your interstate highways, any secondary roads on the eastern seaboard in Vermont and Connecticut, and ditto for anywhere in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Tennessee especially!

Re: favorite motorcycle roads
The road I always ride anytime I'm near it Colo 82 between Aspen and Twin Lakes, this road is closed during the winter and sometimes doesn't open until July. Next is Stagecoach Blvd and Colo 103 to Echo lake to gateway to Mount Evans. Interstate 70 through glennwood canyon. There are many more in Colorado these are my must ride roads everythime I visit my home state.
Californa, Ca 84 from Alice's west to Ca 1, Skyline from Ca 92 to Ca 9 from this road you can see the San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Ca 9 from Los Gatos to Santa Cruz. All of these require lots of turning to be done and should be ridden early before the traffic gets heavy.
In Navada US 50 from Carson City to the Navada, Utah border. Any W. Virgina back road. New Mexico any of the mountain roads. Texas, the hill country. I agree all of the Interstates are fun to ride, just keep you eyes open and you'll find many intresting things along these super highways.

Duffy Lake Loop. https://ridermagazine.com/2019/08/13/br ... lake-loop/
Although the road from Lillooet to Lytton is pretty awesome, I love the little extra loop from:
Lillooet -> Cache Creek (not shown on map) -> Spences Bridge -> Lytton
Or, for a long day, extend the loop:
Lillooet -> Cache Creek -> Logan Lake -> Meritt -> Spences Bridge -> Lytton,
Or even longer:
Lillooet -> Cache Creek -> Logan Lake -> Meritt -> Aspen Grove (not shown on map) -> Princeton -> Hope
So many choices.

Re: favorite motorcycle roads
I have to agree with you on the North Cascades Highway, also like Chuckanut DR (Hiway 11) down the coast South of Bellingham. Not as many hi speed sweepers as North Cascades but would give the Tail of the Dragon a run for its money.Barry wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 2:40 am In no particular order:

Re: favorite motorcycle roads
Chuckanut Drive is fun, but there's too many blind driveways that caused me to slow down. Hwy 128 in Utah through Castle Valley is my favorite. I saw 2 trucks in 47 miles. Unfortunately when I was there it was covered in tar snakes. Hopefully by now it has been resurfaced.
Sometime this year I need to revisit hwy 75 over Galena Summit here in Idaho. Good twisties there too.

Follow RT611 to Easton PA then you can follow RT 191 north all the way to Hancock NY on the Upper Delaware River. Then follow RT 97 along the river all the way to Port Jervis. Then come back south through the Water Gap. You can thank me laterGrandpaDenny wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 3:37 pm Recently discovered:

Re: favorite motorcycle roads
I rode that route last Tuesday. 389 miles round trip. Picked up 191 in Stroudsburg (it doesn't go to Easton), had a long detour on 4-something due to a bridge being out on 191. Boy that was a fun detour. Road was crap, winding, winding, winding, up, down, had a peg-dragging, toe-tapping (gear-shifting) blast of a time. Ok I'm lying about dragging the pegs
It was actually a little scary at times! I had a kronkin' blast! It was getting dark as I rolled through the Water Gap. Saw a few deer out in the fields, lots of bugs on the windshield and the top of my helmet. Did the microfiber cloth soaked in water to clean the visor and helmet, worked fantastic. Used NoH20 on Gertrude as an experiment, it took the bugs right off. I've taken a liking to that stuff.
Gertrude got 49 mpg on the way up to Hancock, with lots of third and fourth gear work on the aforementioned detour, and of course traffic in various spots. On the way back, downhill overall, in 5th, cruise control, NO traffic, 45 mpg.
I was going to ride it again yesterday with a friend but he bailed. Weather didn't look that good so I decided to stay home mostly, but it stayed dry so I went for a little ride out 73 just to get out of the city for an hour. Today I ran errands - picking up parts for Geraldine, getting her old battery tested and charged. It tested good, charged up (so they said), took it home, hooked it up, flat dead LOL. Well what the hell, it was only a waste of half an hour riding time (and an excuse to ride, even if only in city traffic a couple of miles - I'll take almost any excuse to ride!), and didn't cost me anything.
Oh, something else about the ride to Hancock - first ride with the Cheap Chinese Imitation Air Hawk Seat Pad. WOW, what a difference! I also discovered that if I scoot my ass up a little into the center of the seat, it's a LOT cushier. With the combination of non-cotton non-boxer drawers, the cushy cushion, and repositioning my ass, I do believe I can make it to Florida in two or three days. I haven't decided for sure if I want to ride or put Gertrude on the Auto Train. I DO know that if I ride, I won't be going down I-95. Kronk that! Down the Eastern Shore and back roads through the Carolinas for me!

I have several friends in Florida and have considered the Augotrain. Seems like a reasonable way to go. Thinking about riding home up the Blue Ridge Parkway etc.

Re: favorite motorcycle roads
I'm with HMB Don 84 from Coast Highway 1 to Alices and beyond is breath taking and technically challenging too: Took my machine on a joy ride yesterday, and stopped by Alice's now that it's reopened. There was a good crowd there, but nothing like when our club use to meet there. I've been riding 1,35, 84, 9 and all the twists in my neck of the California coastal hills for 4 decades, but yesterday those routes seemed all new. Maybe it's because they've made a lot of improvements since I've been up there last. IMHO there are so many great roads- the Blue Mountains, 129 /441 Smokies, 75 /21 Sawtooth, 191/89 Tetons and 16 Big Horn, 395 ET HWY through Tonapah Area 51 with Air Force jets buzz diving the desert highway flats, lastly shooting the canyons on S22 Borrego Salton Scenic Seaway. Glad to have seen some of these roads with Norcal Voyagers and the AVA: Hoping You're Well and finding new roads this Summer too.

I'll be riding up it starting Monday. Right now I'm in my hotel room in Asheville, tackling the Tail of the Dragon tomorrow

I will *not* be going through Massanas or wherever it was in Virginia. Although it might be cool to see the skid marks Gene left. On the road. Only the ones on the road. Not. interested. in. any. other. skidmarks.
