Rules for the road of our rally's.
Hi all. I'm very interested in doing a rally whenever they come my way. Just a quick question. Are we required by our voyager group to wear helmets during our rally's or does the decision fall on if it's state requirement. Also any other info that anyone would like to share will be appreciated. Thank-you all, hope to meet you all soon!

Vooshman, I've only made it to a few rally's so far and from what I've seen it's pretty much up to the state laws. Most do wear their helmets for safety sake but I have seen those that didn't. The AVA also has regional groups that gather occasionally for "Ride-In's", they aren't sanctioned more informal get together. I'm part of the Mid-Atlantic Voyagers which is basically every state that surrounds PA (inclusive of PA) and a few others. Honestly anyone can be a member of any regional group or of as many as they would like. The Mid-Atlantic Voyagers typically get together in the fall for a weekend ride and the last few years they've grouped it together with the Baystate Voyagers to have what's been called "AVA Eastern Regional Ride-In".
Last years was in Massachusetts the week of Sept 16 ~ 20 at the RODEWAY INN HADLEY - AMHERST.

Vooshman , there was an AVA rally in Logan Ohio a few years ago. The AVA moves rally’s to different locations every year. As far as helmets. If it’s aN AVA ride or parade or safety class or any AVA function they require a helmet but if you go off on your own at a rally it’s up to you.

Hello VoyKimmer! I clicked on the pics of the Logan rally! That's just an hour and a half away from me! I didn't belong to the AVA yet but it looked awesome! I'm planning on making the trip to next years rally! It'll be about an eight hour ride from where I'm at. I'm looking forward to meeting everybody! Thanks for the heads up about the helmet, I'll be sure to bring mine along!

I seem to recall that there is a no-alcohol rule on group rides also.
