Leaving Monday for Florida. Nice long round-about trip through NC and Tenn, riding Tail of the Dragon and the Blue Ridge Parkway on the way back. Looks like roughly 2900 miles round trip. Hopefully I'll get the fuel filter and progressive front springs in between now and then.

My first long motorcycle trip. And of course my air seat cover sprang a leak.

Kinda wish I had a passenger to share the trip with. I'm bringing a spare helmet with me in hopes my grandson will want to go for a ride. He's pretty scared, though, after getting hit by a car on his bicycle.

That is a ride I've been wanting to take for some time now. Planning on retiring in two years and making that ride for my gift to myself. Leaving Northern Illinois and ride down to New Orleans to see my best friend, then over to Florida to visit family and check in with Carl Leo. After that, head home by way of the Dragon and Cumberland gap.

Good morning from Henderson, NC! Gertrude behaved flawlessly. She is in her element, on the open rode, and is one very happy Gazelefant.

I'd bought a $30 sheepskin from IKEA a day or two before I left. Wow, what a wonderful addition. Rode 408 miles with the only discomfort being from my sciatica acting up.

42.5 mpg first fillup. She made it all the way to Henderson on the second tank, low fuel light isn't on yet Last tank was 42.5 mpg, first fillup outside Philly was 40 (city riding, no real trips last tank full).

Boy, the roads are so smooooooooooth away from Philly! LOL
