Intercom

Post by DDDDDMORGAN »

So I got my bike home and I'm making plans on working on it and such and I have a question about the intercom.

It's a 97 Voyager Xii and of course it has the intercom system hookups; I'm wondering if there are still connections available? What do I need for the helmets and such?

Thanks
Dan

For mine I got a "Y" cord, it plugs into a cord in the fairing and has two leads that get snaked out for driver and rear passenger. For thr helmets we bought (I beleive a 5 pin) head sets that we installed into our helmets ourselves. On the radio there is a button for intercom marked "HS" (headset), with that the radio plays thru thr headset as well as hearing your passenger.

Honestly, buy a Bluetooth intercom -- cut the cords! You can communicate with your passenger, even when you go into the store to pay for gas, or buy snacks. Be aware they will hear plenty, including your conversations with the staff, and other noises... You may wish to turn it off when you go certain places.

It is quite funny to be in the store, talking with the staff, and your passenger will chime in with a joke, or other comment about your "other" conversation. It can be a lot of fun, depending upon how twisted each of your senses of humor are.

The Bluetooth intercoms also feature the ability to connect to other Bluetooth devices (MP3 players, cell phones, GPS's, etc.). They typically will have a Radio built in, as well, with the ability to auto-switch between devices (channels).

The Voyager XII bike is great, but technology has past it by. Modern devices are far better, offering far more options, and all without a cord. Cheers! ;-)
