My 92 doesn’t like me, help please!

Post by Jeff Gordon »

I need some assistance with my 92. To make a long story short , I bought a Yamaha FJR1300 to do some touring on because I wanted something lighter and the price was right. Because I live in Ontario Canada our riding season is short I didn’t spend a lot of time on my trusted XII. Occasionally she’d get a spin when the Mrs felt like an afternoon ride, but it was few. I put her in the garage for winter as I’ve done for 15 years and the 65,000+ miles I’ve put on the clock as the 3rd owner. This bike has been SO good, I can’t even tell you. But coming out into the spring sunshine last Sunday, it wouldn’t fire. I’ve drained the bowls and fired just to make sure I had fuel, checked fuses, took the left side apart just to make sure the main pin connector wasn’t corroded. Pulled #1 and #4 plugg and held them up to a piece of steel and I have no spark. I would enjoy to hear some thoughts of what to check before I have to get into digging out the coils! I almost feel I am missing something simple, but after looking through my manual I am coming here for some help. Please share your thoughts! Thanks

make sure your igniter box has a ground.I added mine with a ring terminal directly to the battery negative, years ago from advice on this forum.I sometimes forget to connect it when removing and replacing the battery after winter time.If you drove it to where its parked it should still be able to run, assuming you have gas in it.
