Replacement- Front Speakers

Post by Rokko100 »

:hmm: I finished this job and I wanted to thank who ever that gentleman was who recommended I unscrew the front blinkers as opposed to taking off the whole fairing! Wow, was that the ticket! I was able to get the fallen brackets as well as hold them as I rescrewed the new speakers in. A job well done and easily remedied. Now, just a side not for others interested in upgrading some sweet alternatives without having to make any mods in the front speakers. I guessed and went with Blaunkpunt 4" PCXB replacements. I was afraid they would stick out too much and not be able to remount the attractive screens that went over the stock speakers. Luckily, they fit just fine and made a huge difference in sound while adding the latest technology for the front. The only problem you will find is they are no longer produced but you can find them on ebay from Midwest Audio Supply for 32.00 delivered to your door. It is so worth it! Do it guys, you will be pleasantly surprised for only $ 32.00. Thanks again for the help.

I have some more accurate information if you wish to add this to another site. The replacement speakers I used were Blaunkpunt PCxb 402 4 " speakers available at Midwest Electronics at the current time. Remember these are discontinued speakers but they are still available in high numbers from places like ebay or just google the brand and it will come up on-line.
They were $ 32.00 delivered to the door by UPS.

Will let you all know when I find the ultimate pair for the back. That sounds like another interesting adventure in itself, but I will research it and get you all a great aftermarket choice of speaker that no one really knows about that will just slide in the boxes.

:hmm: Well, I did finally take apart the rear speakers to investigate the possibility of putting in some better speakers like I did the front. Upon taking apart the rear speakers, I have concluded that it is absolutely not worth the work involved in this job. Once you take apart the speakers from the rails in the rear, and once you unscrew the backing portions of the speaker, you then find you have to reach deep down through the metal backplates to unscrew another few screws. A real pain. I stopped midstream and decided that it just was not worth it. I think you will find the same! Either live with it or just fade the sound to the front! HW.
