Here's my recently completed trailer. It's pretty much a sears cartop carrier and a homemade frame made from 2x2 square tubing and a old jonboat trailer. All the welding was done in about 10 hours. I then took another week to prime, paint, run lights and paint the carrier. Now all I need to take me a little trip..LOL
Changed the hinges to open from the right side instead of from the back. Took a little doing but I think it's really worth it.

Did you need much prep for the plastic carrier?
I'd like to do something simmilar to our PiggyBacker... How many cans did it take and did you put a clearcoat over it when done?

The carrier took 2 cans of paint to cover well. I haven't clear coated yet but plan to do so monday when I'm off. The plastic paint requires no priming, just make sure it's clean and free of oil and dirt. The plastic paints can be repainted in about 15 minutes and dry in about an hour. Walmart has the color closest to the blue vv that I've found. Lowes and Home Depot have plastic paints too. The most time consming part was figuring out how I wanted to paint it and taping it off to do so. My wife gave me grief initially cause she thought black was fine. I just thought that black was so drab. Now she likes it...LOL.
Sorry for the late reply, I've been on the road for work. Yes, paint for plastic is what I used. I did clear coat the trailer the other week. I just used regular clear coat from Walmart as well.
