Got it started!!!

Post by Godlover »

For those who helped with great advice - thanks! I got it started this afternoon. It took a bit of coaching and patience but it started to fire some - so I kept working it - and a few backfires - and pretty soon it was idling. When I gave it gas it seemed to die so I just let it idle for several minutes. Once it warmed up she ran like a champ. I rode down to the end of the block and back then parked it for the night. We are supposed to get temps in the 50's and 60's the next two days so I plan to ride it around town. My schedule won't allow a longer ride but that's okay - spring is around the corner!

WWWOOOHHOOO Way to go man. My bike seems to like warming up a little bit in the mornings too. I find that if I give it no throttle at all when starting it fires easy and I just let it idle as I put on my helmet and whatnot. You will be amazed on how much you learn about these bikes with the help on the people here. Enjoy the ride.

Congrats. If you do nothing else (I don't recommend doing nothing else), get some seafoam in that gas to help lubricate and clean the fuel system.

Excellent.. Well done.. Mines the same.. warm up time for helmet and gloves and off you go..
As an alternative to Sefoam, i use Marvell Mystery oil..
Cleans and lubes the carbs and the top end.. Throttle response after half a tank was noticeably better..
Out on mine today.. 36F on the way into work but up to 62 today and low 70s by friday.. woo hoo..
